Do you have to be a verizon customer?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      It does not appear so.

    • rosana

No, i did this last year and no questions asked.

  2. Nana Donna 2 6

In Iowa it appears to only be at Grinnell. A smallish town about an hour(?) from Des Moines and 1.5(?) hours from Cedar Rapids/Iowa City. Way to pick the town, Verizon…limited population IMO. Others notice that in their area/state?

    • Heather

Crazy! I know last year they had one in Davenport

    • Brooke

The whole state of Wyoming has a limited population and there aren’t any stores offering this deal. 🙁

    • errrr

I believe the Wireless Zone stores are independently operated/franchises, which are separate from corporate stores. These stores don’t have to give away free stuff. It may be that Verizon could not get other Wireless Zone store owners/operators to participate.

  3. Dev

Has anyone got this in the previous years? Is it worth the drive and waiting with the kids?

    • C bruner

No it wasn’t😠Backpacks not too bad. Supplies were cheap generic. Mini pencil case, Dollar store glue sticks prob Dollar store folders etc. Not worth it at all

  4. Erin

Nothing in South Carolina, North Carolina, or Georgia!

    • Crystal Hagadone

There is one in Eastonallee, GA that is participating.

    • K.D

Yes on Grayson hwy in Grayson from 1-4 they ran out but inspecting more to arrive they have several locations just call and ask I did.

  5. gilly

Probably for low inonlinee area families

    • Lindsay Robinson

      Why would you assume that?

  6. Jenny

    None in california!

    • chris

      Of ccourse not.

      • Cathy

Why am I not surprised California is excluded. However, we have the honor of paying the highest taxes in the nation. Who needs more? LOL

  7. Kristen

We went in Massachusetts last year and they told us to take bags for friends because they had such a low turnout. There was probably about 6 color choices of bags and inside each one they had a notebook, folders, pencil case with pencils, ruler, glue stick, etc. This is all off the top of my head so I hope it’s accurate. It was very nice. Would I drive over an hour to get it? Depends on the age and number of kids I had whether it would be worth the long car ride. It was very nice of them!

    • Kristen

Oh and I don’t see us on the list this year either so maybe it was due to poor turnout in the past?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Cool! Thanks so much for sharing your experience Kristen!

  8. Heartmade crafts

Be sure and check ur area. THIS IS NOT in JusT LOW INonlineE AREAS.

    • gilly

What is the point of this onlinement? I’m sure anyone interested will check to see if it is near by.

    • Jamie

Agreed. As a matter of fact, in MN, none are in low inonlinee areas (though it would only be 20 minutes or so from a low inonlinee area to some of the locations) and I would say they are in middle class and upper middle class areas around here. My two cents could be if you have one close to you, great, but if not, just watch Colin’s posted school supply deals – you should be able to get most everything you need for pennies if you don’t mind going to the stores once a week and only buying their specials each week.

    • Jlute838

I believe this onlinement was made in response to a previous one suggesting it was only in low inonlinee areas

  9. melloddie

    1-4pm 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the heads up! Just fixed! 😉

  10. staci

None in AZ or CA ? 😩

    • Chelsea

I’d call your store to check! My local store is not listed but they are participating!

  11. April

I don’t know why I feel odd about this but why I feel like it’s almost humiliating to have to stand in line for a backup with your child.

    • VB

You’re blessed, then. Not everyone is as lucky. Some people really need these for their kids. If I were to stand in line with my kid, I wouldn’t be embarrassed, but use it as a teaching moment. That my kid should be grateful people are nice enough to do these things. And when she’s able, she should do the same.

      • Anna

Dito, I think it’s a Great thing that Verizon is doing, I have 8 grandchildren and I am taking them. This helps out my daughter a lot. My grand kids are excited to go.

    • Racquel

I feel when people are generous to give its beonlinees a blessing to them to bless others. Look at it that way and not negatively. It’s school supplies and there’s always a need during the year to use it. I don’t think it’s humiliating at all.

    • Jean

If you find it humiliating than don’t go. There are those that have to humble themselves to make ends meet. It’s called humilty and it’s not a bad thing.

    • al

why? you shouldn’t lots of families where at ours and they gave to all ages. even kids that are too young for school

  12. Raedev

I seen a sign at my Verizon store last yr but missed out. Does that mean I can go up there this year even if my Verizon store isn’t on the list? I hope so!! That would save me slot of time & hard earned $$. Thanks for the great post Collin! 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You could always call in to your store to see if they might be participating! 😉

  13. Niki

I’m from mass! Where is the list to see if near me?

    • Raedev

      • K

        N Andover has none.
Said most places were out within few minutes.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Be sure to click through the link above to find the list of participating stores!

    • Jenn

There is a lot of them listed for MA considering it’s such a small state.

  14. KLS

My husband works for TCC (a premium Verizon retailer). All TCC stores will be participating in a backpack giveaway as well. Go to tccrocks.online and read the red banner at the top of the page. In the past it has been a backpack with a notebook, ruler, hard plastic pencil box, box of pencils, and a glue stick.

For TCC, you do not have to be a Verizon customer. They usually set up a tent outside the store and every kid who walks up gets a backpack. It is nice that you don’t even have to go in the store. They are pretty strict about the child being there. They had several colors/patterns to choose from for boys and girls. Of course the popular designs go fast. He works in a town of about 50,000 and there was rarely a line other than a few people who got there early, but it goes fast so just walk up and get your bag.

As for quality of the backpack, my preschool son was able to use his for the entire year last year. Keep in mind he usually only had 1 folder and papers in his backpack so nothing super heavy. I think they are great quality especially for being free!

    • KLS

Collin, I told him to send you the info for the TCC backpack giveaway as well as a flyer so that you can post it if you like. His store usually has bags leftover after the giveaway so it is a nice surprise when people bring their kids in later in the week and get an unexpected freebie. (I believe each store gets 200 backpacks so this would depend on the size of the town.)

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        Thanks! 😉

    • Raedev

Thank you!! Found my store participating. Good luck everyone 😀

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for the helpful feedback! Good to know!

    • Rock'nRobins
