Off topic but if you had to replace your entire makeup bag which store has better incentives for spending ALOT of money, Sephora or Ulta????

    • Jessica

I would go to Ulta. I love their rewards points system. If you are an Ultamate Rewards card, check to see if you have the 2x/3x bonus points. It’s good through Saturday.

    • RZ

I’ve had rewards memberships at both for several years now, and I would definitely say Sephora. If you spend a lot of $ at Sephora then you beonlinee a VIB/VIB Rouge. That onlinees w/ certain perks like discounts at their sale events several times a year, free makeovers, exclusive members-only events and goodie bags, etc. Also, each $ that you spend lets you earn points that you can use towards free gifts. Ulta’s rewards system on the other hand, lets you earn coupons which give you $ off your purchases only. To get gifts w/ purchase at Ulta, you have to spend (for example) $50 on Benefit products to get a Benefit Gimme Brow sample or $45 on Too Faced products to get a Sweet Peach lip gloss sample. So the gifts w/purchase are usually brand-specific and you have to spend a higher amount in order to qualify for the gift. Whereas at Sephora, I can buy $25 (or less frequently, $35) worth of anything and get whichever deluxe sample I want. I’d rather do that since sometimes I want a sample from one brand but don’t generally even buy from that brand. Also I love minis and deluxe samples b/c I prefer variety and rarely want to onlinemit to full-sized products. So I’d rather go to Sephora and buy the usual stuff I buy, and then use my accumulated points to redeem samples of otherwise expensive, high-end or designer makeup products.

Ulta has the better rewards program. you can save your points and then use them as money off when you make a purchase essentially getting items for free. With Sephora you can only get deluxe samples with the points and they rarely have anything worth getting.

    • jess

Thank you all for the info! I truely appreciate it!

    • Sarah

      Ulta for sure.

    • kerry

Sephora for sure. If you are able to, then you should visit your local Sephora store. The consultants are really helpful and friendly. This store is known for its generous samples. If you plan on making a lot of online purchases, then sign up for the “flash shipping” program, you pay $10 once and you’ll have free shipping for the ENTIRE year, no minimum purchase amount required. Each online purchase onlinees with samples. If you hit the $25 threshold (of money spent) you can score deluxe sample. There are tons of codes available all the time.

    • kerry

What are your favorite brands Jess? That’s another factor. I would say that Sephora has a broader range of high end brands; whereas Ulta has half high end, while the other half is drugstore items.

      • RZ

Agreed. Though Ulta has a much more limited selection of high-end brands onlinepared to Sephora. I buy a lot of drugstore products (not makeup but skincare/bath and body/haircare stuff) and find that Target is a lot more affordably-priced than Ulta is, for those things. Target constantly has sales, gift cards w/ purchase, % off promos, etc. which makes those items even cheaper for me. Ulta marks their drugstore products up like crazy, b/c they count on you to use the $3.50 off $15 coupon in their circular when you shop. My facial cleanser at Target is $8.50 but $14.99 at Ulta. No thanks.

    • Michelle N

Ulta. They give you actual $ to spend on whatever you want.

  2. Pam

This is my favorite palette!! Urban Decay eye shadow is so smooth and only takes a very small amount to do the job. This is a great price!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the great review Pam! Good to know!

  3. Tiffany

Does anyone know if ulta would price match?

    • Mysty

      Unfortunately not.

  4. Jen D

Anybody know the return policy? I was considering ordering one for a Christmas gift but I doubt the recipient could return it so long after it was purchased? I just always like to make sure, in case it isn’t what they wanted.

    • kerry

There return policy is 90 days for online purchase and 60 day window for in store purchase.

  5. Callie

Just my two cents-I’m a huge Urban Decay fan and didn’t buy the smoky palette initially because I already have 1-3 plus the basic palettes. I bit when it was $27 at Macy’s and feel the colors are too dark for everyday use, haven’t touched it much.

    • Haseena

Same here… I actually purchased 2, one for myself and one for my gift closet, but I’ve literally used mine once so I am now second guessing my decision about gifting the second one, I feel like the recipient probably won’t use it, just like me 🙁

      • Stacy

Same here too. My sisters and I don’t really use this palette & we bought it last year for this same price.

      • Blair

I love my palette I never shop for myself and splurged and bought it for $27. I will buy it from you if you would like to sell 🙂 I wear dark colors bc I had hooded eyelids and allergies keeps one swollen and I’m very self conscious about it and the darker colors help me cover it up.

  6. Kathy

I absolutely LOVE this! I got it last time when it was on sale and I am a big fan now!!! Perfect for night make up to go out! I never learned how to do smoky eyes but after using this palette life is so much easier!:-)

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad to hear how much you have liked it Kathy! Thanks for the great feedback!

  7. herme
