We got one of these years ago and the kids loved it but I would only do it in the summer and make clear that the cardboard house is for outside and not going to linger in my living room for an indefinite period.

Yay!!!!!! I’ve been wanting two of these since I missed this price in November. I could not bring myself to pay full price for cardboard. LOL! Definitely getting a couple this time!!!

We got the castle one yesterday and my 4 year old and 2 year old had a blast. It will definitely be around until it’s torn apart. Thinking of getting a few more for a princess themed birthday party,

Our kids loved the one we had. They played with it for a year in the basement.

We got one of the gingerbread houses as a Christmas gift and my tip for the littler kids that work on these…:use paint brushes! It gets so tiresome coloring with markers and crayons.

Just got home and put it together. I had to pry my 5 & 7 year old away from their colors to go to bed. Definitely worth going back to get a few more for the gift closet.

Rewards members also have a 20% off entire purchase, including sale items coupon. Check your email or app (and I think there was a printed version on that in store last week as well). It won’t work on the doorbuster deals, but it will make those Happy Planner prices even lower. 🙂

Thank you for mentioning that Andrea! I wouldn’t have thought to use that coupon on the Happy Planner.

    • Angie (Sweet Sidekick)

Awesome! Thank you so much for mentioning that! I have updated the post!

  2. Nicole

We bought these coloring houses for our kids birthday parties when they were younger. They were always a big hit with everyone!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for sharing Nicole! Good to know how much they enjoyed them!

  3. Ashley C.

Fun. But my 1, 2, 3 and 6 year old had it torn up in one afternoon

    • Alla

Same here. Ours lasted only 24 hours with our 2 boys 3 and 8 years old. They played more than they colored it. Barely 1 side was colored and went to garbage.

  4. Nichole

Kids got a house for Easter they love it!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh good! Thanks for the feedback Nichole!

It’s cheaper to just have your kids paint on an appliance box or something. Most people already have paint and brushes so it’s just acquiring the cardboard box that can be tricky. My suggestion is to check Craig’s list for free moving boxes and let your kids tape them together as they choose. Parents can cut some of the not needed panels as the kids choose. Let their creative juices flow.

Got 2 of them for 2 of the 4 birthday parties these next 2 weeks. My girls 5 & 7 loved the house so, we are gifting a house and a castle to the birthday friends.

My 2 year old and cat battle for territory in our cardboard play castle. They both love it. The only downside is that we live in a pretty small apartment and this thing is huge. It takes up half our living room and really kills the pinteresty decor.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the heads up on the size! Good to know!

It is pretty sturdy. We have had one up since Christmas. It was a bit of a pain to put together, it has some plastic connectors you have to crawl inside to put in, but since it has been up no issues. The house is too big to fit through a doorway, so when assembling, do it in the room you want it in.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the helpful feedback Colleen!
