DIY Cookies for Santa Plate (Christmas Kids Craft)

Are your kids excited for Christmas eve?🎅

We love this fun and inexpensive craft idea to do with the kiddos to turn into a sweet tradition of setting out a special cookie plate for Santa! Simply decoupage the bottom of a clear glass plate to create the cutest Christmas keepsake you can use for years to onlinee.

This craft idea came from my son’s 2nd-grade teacher a few years ago and we enjoy setting it out each year! Teachers always have the best craft ideas.

You likely already have the supplies on hand to make one of these plates. If not, small clear glass plates can easily be picked up for around a dollar at Walmart or dollar stores.

DIY “Cookies for Santa” Plate

Supplies Needed:

- Mod Podge
- 8 inch Clear Glass plate (99¢ from Walmart or Dollar Store)
- Red and Green Tissue Paper, cut in squares
- White paper with a drawing of Santa
- Foam Brush

Directions:

- Cut a circle of white paper the same size as the bottom of the clear plate (I traced a large cup).
- Have your child draw Santa and write the words “Cookies for Santa”.
  - Optional Step: Write the age of your child and glue a school photo to the back of the drawing.
- Use the foam brush to apply Mod Podge to a flat portion of the back of the plate. Place the drawing in the middle of the plate and flatten. Make sure it’s facing down so you’ll be able to see drawing from the top of the plate.
- Add more Mod Podge around edges of the plate. Place tissue paper squares down alternating the colors. Keep tissue paper on the back of plate only. If you go over, it’s easy to gently tear or cut off.
- Add two layers of Mod Podge over the bottom of the entire plate letting each layer dry in between.

I’m in love with the one my daughter made yesterday! So cute and easy!

I was thinking this may be a fun way to re-use pretty Christmas images on holiday cards if you wanted to use that instead of a drawing. Also obviously this would be hand wash only so it can stay nice throughout the years.
