   Thanks kelly! We’re hitting the beach this weekend! Any advice when travelling with a baby (11 m/o)..?

  We travel regularly with our 15 month old. We stop every 2-3 hours to let her get out and stretch her legs for at least 30 minutes. I also ride in the back seat with her sometimes when she’s fussy. We also have special traveling only toys for her. We have a kindle loaded with Sesame Street episodes that she only gets in the car and that helps.

  I do pretty the same thing for my now 23 mo old. He’s a very active boy so if he has to sit still it sometimes takes a lot to keep him occupied and happy.

  A different line of thinking: Always bring a first aid kit when traveling, especially with children. There’s nothing worse than being at the beach or camping and having a little one spike a fever and have nothing to treat it with, no familiar doctors around, and no open pharmacies.

  Baby powder at the beach!!! Shake on feet before getting in car and it’ll remove access sand

  Yes!! This also is wonderful for when they inevitably get sand in their diaper area or anywhere else. Brushing it off burns, so just sprinkle powder on the sand and it onlinees off so easy.

  The baby powder tip from April works like a charm. Baby powder is a must for a beach trip. Enjoy the beach! I love it and since I’m in the East Coast it’s not the weather to visit one just yet.

   This is exactly what we did last summer. Thanks to Hip2Save, I didn’t have to buy ANY travel size items for our vacation. It was awesome….Hip2Save is AWESOME! !

   I take tide pods and dryer sheets in a small round deli contaner and I have quarters in a mini m&ms container. It’s nice to bring home clean clothes and we only take half as much clothes

  I like to put travel quarters for laundry inside plastic medication bottles. Just peel off the prescription label, so you know when you are running low on quarters.

   I bring our favorite spices with us to places that we may cookout. We will buy fresh meat but save on things like Montreal steak. Hate to spend money on things we get good deals on!!

  Thanks for the tip. We usually get vacation rentals with a kitchen and cook a few meals to save money. But I never thought to bring spices. I’ve been buying small containers of the essentials and those are usually a terrible value. My husband has a camp spice container. I’ll use that next time.

   CVS children’s allergy meds got me the full TSA whirlwind treatment. With three screaming kids and three carry ons full of kids items (dumped all over their tables for a search) these agents actually asked if I was traveling alone. Throw away the meds that are not rx and won’t be absolutely vital before you can get new ones. I ended up having to throw out all the liquid meds including the rx because they opened and test stripped everything. I didn’t want to risk contamination who knows when they changed their gloves last.

  Did you declare anything before putting your items through? Only rx’s, formula etc (full list on tsa dot gov) over 3 oz of liquid need declared first (everything else must be under 3 oz). Otherwise they will search after scanning and take.

  And all your liquids have to be in a quart ziplock bag. You get one per person and you have to pull the bag out and lay it in one of the scanner bins. If you do that wil all liquids and make sure they are all under 3 oz, you will be good and not have to do any of that. It does suck when you miss something and have to get searched.

  I’m sorry maybe I wasn’t clear. I know and an quite familiar with all the tsa rules for travelling with liquids and followed them. THEY DO “RANDOM” INSPECTIONS. They decided to test the liquids I had by taking them out of the bag they were in, the rx were in bigger bottles and I declaired ALL the liquids I had. Then they put them in the testing box and the CVS allergy stuff made it go off which then caused even more extra searching. They opened every bottle and inserted test strips and wiped the lids with test papers too. I have traveled with meds many times before and have never encountered this situation I have declared medications and they looked at them and that was that. It was just a lesson in less is more. If you don’t need it before you can get to a store don’t take it. I thought I was going to be frugal by taking the meds with us and in the end it cost me more.

   When the kids were little, we packed outfits for them (top, shorts, underwear, socks) in separate plastic bags. If we needed a fresh change of clothes, or if we were staying in a hotel along the way, we could easily grab one onlineplete outfit for each kid. No digging through the luggage. The dirty clothes went back into the bags, so they wouldn’t get the rest of the clothes dirty.
