This was really helpful when our Cub Scout troop took a field trip to the Grand Canyon. Some parents were not able to afford the park entrance fee as well as the other expenses needed for the campout. So we made sure a fourth grader (Webelo 1) was in their vehicle so they got in free. This allowed our whole troop to attend which was great!!

    Very cool!

We did this for spring break.. visited Everglades! Now, we are planning our summer vacation around the pass! What a wonderful deal!! 😀

      Thanks, Shan!!! Good to know!

If you ever visit the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee/North Carolina you do not pay a park fee. It is the only national park with no entrance fee.

    • Susie

I know, isn’t that great! We live here and are totally spoiled by it.

I think that there are a few out West that don’t have entrance fees…actually, maybe it is because they are considered National Forests, rather than a National Park…there are some gorgeous places.

There’s a national park near Cleveland, Ohio that doesn’t charge an entrance fee. It’s call the Cuyahoga Valley. https://www.nps.gov/cuva/index.htm

But, all of the parks are worth the price of admission, in my opinion!

I’m a fourth grade teacher, and we passed these passes out to our kids a few months ago! They look like a credit card, and they get so excited to get them! Hopefully a lot of them will be able to use them this year!

  6. Nicole

Just shared this with my fourth grade team so we can share it with our kiddos before they leave for summer break, thanks!

Is there a way to know which places participate in this? I’m in Central IL and don’t think there is anywhere around here that participates
