I entered to win this several years ago. they have been doing this one for a while. I mailed in several entries and entered online every day. when the winner was announced it was a deserving family that had been entering every year straight for like 8 years.

I have been entering this for 12 years, and still is today, i know how you feel, to me its just not even worth it nomore.

  2. Craig

Wow! Absolutely stunning! In reality, Id take the cash option if was so lucky to win. The taxes alone would bankrupt the average Joe. Good luck to all who enter!

    • rae

Ha! This is exactly what DH and I talked about when we saw this advertized a few weeks ago. The taxes on this house have to be out of this world!

  3. Tracy

I entered every day last year and was surprised when they didn’t call me 😀 Guess I’ll try again this year.

  4. Jennifer

I entered but then I saw the pictures of the house. I would definitely take the cash option. There were quite a few things with the house that I did not like. You would think that a house that’s worth that much they could have at least put a tub in the kids bedroom. I noticed the only tub in the house is located in the master bathroom. There were other things I didn’t like but that one bugged me the most.

The house is gorgeous, but not totally practical for a young family. Our children would have to be quite a bit older to feel onlinefortable with having an entire floor separating us, especially with a baby or toddler. I also perceive that this home might feel a bit isolating with a floor plan fostering separation (wings and floors). My guess is that the designers had an older family or couple in mind when creating the floor plan. If we were lucky enough to win it and could afford the taxes, we would likely put the children in one of the upstairs rooms and ourselves in the other. Designating the family room as the play room, the kids wouldn’t need separate rooms. The master bedroom would beonlinee an amazing guest room/office. I agree that a lack of bathtub upstairs would definitely eliminate this house from consideration if we had $2,000,000 to spare. 😉 Despite it’s flaws, it is incredible and I will probably waste my time entering just to daydream about the possibilities!

Most people who win end up selling it due to prize taxes etc and they are usually in remote locations not close to anything. I do love watching the episodes that show the house though!

Yes, Truckee is a bit remote and cold during the winter as it is in the Sierra Nevadas. But, It is a beautiful area often frequented by travelers heading to and from Lake Tahoe or Reno. It does have enough charm to be its own travel destination and there is a decent amount of shopping and restaurants. Skiing, fishing, camping, golfing, and water recreation are available.

Yeah it’s unfortunate, a house like that should onlinee with some sort of tax support because normal families can’t pay taxes like that, But I guess for HGTV it’s all about the show and not about what happens after that. DreamHomeGiveaway.org has more about this.

      • Anikka

I enter sweepstakes as a hobby. The problem is any money they give you to pay the taxes would also be taxed.

  6. anna

What are the taxes ? Lol is it that much

    • annad

The taxes on 2 million in worth. Cash, house, and car is about 700,000 so if you win the irs will be asking for their share. So if you sell everything it’s worth it but I don’t think anyone has actually kept it

  7. Jennifer Webb

    What an awesome hoyse

  8. krystal

AAH, my favorite place on earth. I will be entering everyday.

  9. trixiestreats

I will be entering every day, but I know that if I won, I would have to sell everything immediately. I know I’m a terrible actress, so I just wonder how I (or others who have won — Stephanie Dee, for example) would do under the pressure of being interviewed under bright spotlights on camera. How would I answer the questions about how excited I am to live in the house when I know I could only afford to live in the house in my dreams. 🙁

  10. Cindy A. Character

This would be a dream onlinee true for my family and I, would help us out a lot.

  11. Margarita
