It looks so delicious! I can’t wait to try it! Thanks Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welonlinee! 🙂

  2. Renee

I don’t have an expresso maker, but I like frappuccinos with a strong coffee flavor so I make my mine at home with ice cubes made with coffee instead of water. Coffee ice cubes are also great for making iced coffee drinks so the flavor doesn’t get diluted as the ice melts!

  3. Nora

You could do frozen milk cubes or coffee cubes instead of water so it doesn’t get watered down.

I think I am going to make one right now! 😉

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awesome idea! 🙂

    • Katie

I always freeze my extra coffee into ice cube trays so my iced coffee doesn’t taste watered down. This is a great chance to use them up as well 🙂 I’ve heard of freezing coffee creamer, too, but I tried it and it didn’t freeze well. It was very sticky and hard to get out of the trays. It might be different with plain milk, though!

  4. lj

Ha! Love the honesty… (not knowing how to say caramel) 🙂 Me either. I’ve grown up saying it car(like what you drive)~mel. BUT… everytime I order something at starbucks or Mcdonalds, etc, I’m always corrected! So maybe it depends what part of the country you’re in. I now live in SC. So maybe it’s those yankee people that pronounce it like I do. 🙂 (my family is from the north)

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      😉

    • Jess

Weird. I was born and raised in WI and pronounce it like you do. “car-ml” Two syllables with the last one just smushed without even a vowel sound… 🙂

      • lj

Thats funny. My parents are from ohio, so thats probably where i learned to pronounce it like that. But, just know that if you are in sc, its care-a-mel. Lol!

      • julie

        Yes, in Michigan too!

        • julie

I mean in Michigan it’s the same as Wisconsin, Car-ml

    • animity

In the west it is car (like you drive).

  5. Ashley

I love frappuccinos! Thanks for the video. One hint is to add Xanthan Gum to the mix in order to avoid the natural separation that occurs after blending.

    • Nora

Where can i find xanthan gum?

      • bunny

You could find at any health food store Nora. My local store fortunately sells it in bulk (it’s used a lot in gluten free baking), so you are able to buy just a tablespoon’s worth at a time if you choose!

      • P Ambrose

        How much xanthan gum?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Great tip!

    • P Ambrose

How much xanthum gum do you use? I’ve tried making a frap at home before and was disappointed with the separation that you mentioned.

  6. Jean

Fun! Thanks for the reminder. I’ve made this before, but instead of ice I use frozen espresso cubes. It’s easier than it sounds… I always have leftover espresso when making my mocha, so I take the leftover and freeze into a mini muffin tin. When I want a frappuccino, I add some frozen espresso cubes, milk and chocolate syrup (I have Hershey’s on hand). I haven’t made this in a long time, may have to soon.

Oh, and I say caramel both ways depending on how it’s being used. Like, I’ll say “care-a-mel” if it’s just by itself, but for caramel apples I say “car-mel” apples.

    • Ashley57

Funny you point that out. I don’t think I have ever heard anyone say care-a-mel apples. LOL

  7. steph

Just heads up…my Tommy Hilfiger order was canceled that I used with wrapp gift card. I called customer service and they said they cancelled a lot of them.

    • Lola

I had ordered a shirt ($5 after the coupon) and it arrived. I wonder if it was just the free ones?

      • Stephanie

It must be. I ordered the socks and they were canceled.

        • Lola

The only reason I didn’t try to get the free socks was because they were sold out of any of the ones that were useful for us! I then saw some T-shirts that were $5 after the coupon, and although it isn’t a “great” deal, I figured they must be better quality than cheaper brands I have bought in the past that are only $1 or so cheaper.

I love adding cardamom to coffee, either hot or iced. I have used crushed cardamom pods when brewing as well as added ground cardamom directly to my cup of coffee. When I make French vanilla coffee, I love topping it with a mixture of coarse sugar and ground cardamom. Sorta reminds me of the Starbucks Vanilla Spice Lattes they had last year.

I also love using Inbru coffee flavors (www.inbru.online) because they don’t contain any sweetener, but allow you to customize the flavor to whatever you want.

  9. Mary

I actually just attempted to make Frappes for myself and my niece who loves McDonald’s choc chip ones! It turned out too watery, maybe too much coffee, but I didn’t follow the exact directions. I tried but she still prefers McDonald’s!

  10. Julie

Cute video! I use a cup of coffee from my Keurig with my favorite creamer (a little more then I would normally use in hot coffee) and some ice in my bullet and it takes perfect! If I plan ahead I put the coffee in the fridge overnight or if I forget I throw it in the freezer for a few minutes to cool it off so the ice doesn’t all melt super fast 😉

  11. Maria

I love the tips about the coffee ice, and you are so adorable Colin! Your kitchen also looks gorgeous! I would love to see some drinks you like to make for fall since it’s almost here!

  12. Lyndi Hedgecock

would love it if you could figure out the double chocolate chip frappacino! 🙂

    • Teresa

Go to Starbucks home page and they have a recipe site on how to make all kinds of different flavors. The snickers is the best!!!

  13. Amanda L

Thank you so much for this video and recipe! I totally just went to the store to make this! I bought espresso coffee and put it in my Keurig, bought some 2% milk, some caramel and the husband said it was okay. I forgot the whipped topping which is the reason he said it was just okay. But for $7 bucks I will be able to make 30 plus of these things once I tweak it throughout my week!! I think this would make a cool gift!!

  14. J

I’ve been making the Tim Horton’s Ice Cap recipe I found online and it’s pretty much the same, except it takes instant coffee. Great way to use up all the freebies. Last time I used some fudge-cicles that were lurking in the freezer to make a mocha. You can also try flavored creamers and skip the milk and sugar. Signed, Another Caffeine Addict 🙂 PS Collin, I LOVE your haircut. It is so cute on you!

    • kara

J which recipe do you use for Tim Hortons Ice Cap?

      • J

can be made with regular coffee or decaf:
        2 oz. boiling water
        2 tablespoons instant coffee
2 heaping tablespoons sugar (or sugar substitute Equal)
        4-6 ice cubes
1/3 cup 15% cream. (or chocolate milk…or regular milk)
Mix first 3 ingredients together to make a syrup, put into blender. Add ice cubes and blend until slushy. Add cream and blend until frothy.

This is a “Copycat Tim Horton’s Ice Cap” recipe, credited to someone named Nikki. So, thanks Nikki, wherever you are!

I’ve been making my own iced coffee every summer for years. To make a delicious iced coffee/frapichino, I HIGHLY reonlinemend getting a toddy maker. They’re not that expensive, and since heat never touches the beans, there’s no bitterness to your coffee. I “brew” a caraffe full of coffee concentrate, then keep it in the fridge then add it to skim milk and a squirt of low-sugar chocolate syrup. You could also freeze cubes of coffee as others have suggested. SO good!!!

  16. Steph

Thanks for the Frappuccino tutorial. Speaking of variations in pronunciation, we New Englanders call a type of milkshake a “frap,” even though it’s spelled “frappe.” Calling it a “frappe” might get you slapped! 😉 Same with the word “caramel.” It might be an acceptable (even preferred) way of pronouncing it (with the extra “a”), but it just plain sounds affected. I think a lot of the manufacturers have been trying to encourage the extra “a” in order to give their products a certain air of luxury. For that reason alone, I refuse to pronounce it that way. (Yes, New England stubbornness is a real thing!) One other thing…Collin, can we please get a tour of your new home sometime? 😉

  17. Kama

Thanks for the awsome video!! Feeling inspired! Oh, and I love your countertops. Concrete? How do you like them?

  18. Nicole

thanks for the quick video! gonna try it now!

  19. Porsche' Robey

Instead of using ice cubes, pre freeze some strong brewed coffee or milk cudes, this will give you that frozen thing that you need without watering down your drink 🙂 ive been making homemade coffee drinks for a while now, oh also instead of adding carmel add some cocoa powder and a little peppermint extract for a homemade Peppermint mocha frappuccino! 🙂 that ones my fav! top with some chocolate syrup!

  20. lita

Trying to answer your question at the end of the video, this is what I’ve heard, but I’m not to sure…”carmel” (melted sugar) and “caramel” (melted sugar and butter).
