   the first picture i saw, i thought those were oranges, i was like yeah one for apples could be handy. nope, those are eggs! someone should invent a fruit roll-down! lol

   Eggs must be kept in the carton, to help keep the temperature constant, and so they do not absorb odors. Leaving them out in the open causes their temp to fluctuate every time the fridge door opens and closes, with warm air blowing across them. The bottom shelf is best, and not in the door. Store pointed end down to help keep the yolk centered.

   In a restaurant, the health department would make you throw out all eggs that are stored outside their cartons.

  No one goes through eggs faster than a restaurant, and it’s not safe to store them that way at all.
  I don’t mean to sound so contrary, but the constant fluctuation of the egg temps is a bad thing. Salmonella loves it. The egg carton insulates the eggs, and the bottom shelf is the coldest.
