We’ve done this for all of our rescued German Shepherds. This is a very cost-effective way to test for breed-specific genetic issues that your vet will want to know about — all GSDs should undergo these tests even if they’re not going to breed (e.g., you need to know about MDR1 before any surgery, as 10% of the breed carries the gene and it can cause dangerous reactions to certain anesthesia drugs). It’s cheaper to do them this way as a bundle than to send off individual tests.
