Strawless Lids May Be onlineing to McDonald’s (Here’s What We Know)
Straws may just be a thing of the past!
We’ve seen a plethora of restaurants and fast-food establishments axing the need for straws or only giving them if asked. It looks like McDonald’s, one of the biggest fast-food chains in the world, is working on joining the effort to beonlinee more environmentally friendly!
These McDonald’s strawless lids are currently being tested at select locations, including some in Minneapolis. So, you may start seeing these environmentally-friendly lids popping up at your local McDonald’s soon!
The beloved restaurant has begun testing strawless lid designs in an effort to be more sustainable and produce less waste. This announcement follows McDonald’s pledge to go green, something that started as early as 2018.
McDonald’s states that, by removing small plastics like straws, they’re providing solutions to waste reduction. These lids plan to have a pullback tab so there are no accidental spills. The design appears to be very similar to the “sippy” cups offered in places like Starbucks.
Just like Starbucks, straws will likely still be available per request. While it may seem like a small decision, WWF reports that plastic straws have a life span of 200 years. When in doubt, you can always carry a spare reusable straw in your bag if you prefer one!
