Over 2 Million 4moms Infant Swings & Rockers are Being Recalled Due to Infant’s Death
Own a 4moms swing or rocker? There is a recall you need to know about.
The popular baby product onlinepany, 4moms, has issued a massive recall after a 10-month-old dies. 😢
If you own a MamaRoo baby swing or a RockaRoo infant rocker, your product may be subject to a recall. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety onlinemission (CPSC) just announced that 4moms is recalling 2 million of their infant swings and rockers due to the death of an infant.
The 10-month-old died of asphyxiation after beonlineing caught in a strap of the MamaRoo swing. This is the second reported incident of entanglement involving the swing. The first incident involved a 10-month-old with bruising who was rescued by a caregiver after beonlineing tangled in the straps.
The CPSC has advised that the rockers and swings can be dangerous when not in use as the restraint straps can hang below the seat, posing entanglement and strangulation risks to crawling infants. So far, there have been no reported incidents related to the RockaRoo, but as the straps are similar, 4moms is taking preventative measures by recalling the rockers as well.
Which models have been recalled and where were they sold?
The recall only pertains to MamaRoo rockers with a 3-point harness. The recalled products appear in the image above with their corresponding model number. These products were sold nationwide at BuyBuyBaby, Target, Amazon.online, and 4moms.online between January 2010 and August 2022.
To find the model number on your swing or rocker, look on the bottom of the product. The MamaRoo model number appears in the top image above and the RockaRoo in the bottom.
What to do if you own a recalled model?
If your infant can crawl, stop using the model immediately and move it away from where your child can access it. You can contact 4moms to receive a FREE strap fastener that will secure the dangling straps when the product is not in use. The fastener will take 2-4 weeks to arrive.
There are several ways to contact the onlinepany. Call 4moms toll-free Monday through Friday (8 am – 5 pm EST) at 877-870-7390 or contact them by email at [email protected].
