Did you “Like” the wrong thing? You could get paid for it!

If you were a Facebook user between April 22, 2010 and September 26, 2011 and visited non-Facebook websites that displayed a Facebook “Like” button you may be eligible for a payment.

This class action settlement is the result of a lawsuit (In re: Facebook Internet Tracking Litigation) that alleges the onlinepany tracked consumer activity through a Facebook “Like” button on external websites.

Facebook users allege the onlinepany unlawfully tracked their browsing history while they were logged out of the social networking platform.

Facebook hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but has agreed to pay $90 million to resolve these allegations.

Is this for the state of illinois ONLY?

    • Alli (Hip Sidekick)

No, it is not limited to just one state – it’s for any qualified Facebook user regardless of where they live!

    • Serena

The Illinois one was for facial recognition. That one had already paid out, and too late to file a claim.

  2. Sara

According to the email, this settlement is only for US users. You shouldn’t expect to get more than $0.01. The numbers vary by source, however, there are at least around 178.3 million users in the US. The settlement is only $90 million. No one other than the lawyers and maybe the class representatives are going to see anything substantial.

    • Sara

I just realized my math was using cents instead of dollars. The maximum you could get is $0.50 assuming 178.3 million users. That means there is $850,000 leftover for the lawyers and class representatives.

      • Sara

$850,000 is only 0.94444444%. The lawyers are going to take more than that.
