1st birthday decorations

Have a little one turning one?

I’m sure you want to go all out for your little one’s first milestone. Birthday decorations can get a little pricey, though. However, this week’s Happy Friday reader, Kay, got a little creative and was able to display stunning decorations thanks to her crafty and frugal side!

I love throwing parties and planning events. I also try to be creative, crafty, sentimental, and frugal when I execute my special functions. When I created this birthday banner for my daughter’s first birthday party, I was already subscribing to Shutterfly (Grovebook specifically, which has been discontinued).

At the time, I was receiving a monthly book in the mail with 100 personally selected photos for $3 a month. So, it was easy to collect printed photos of my daughter from her first 12 months of life.

I also had these stickers on hand; the stickers that you put on your baby’s onesies whenever he/she turns a month older. My cousin is an artist and frequently gives me art supplies, including a paper corner rounder

With all those free/inexpensive items, plus some glue and colored paper, I was ready to work. I created this beautiful, meaningful, and frugal birthday banner for my daughter’s birthday party.

Since I didn’t have to look this up on Pinterest or anywhere else, to me, it was an original idea that I actually did last minute. Call it in-the-middle-of-the-night inspiration, the night before her party!

What a special celebration with beautiful decorations, Kay! If anyone’s interested in creating something similar, we often post about photo deals. Many times, there are photo freebies you can take advantage of that would be perfect to create your own!

And a very happy birthday to your little one, Kay!

Nice job! It is fun to look back to the monthly pictures. With my kids, I did weekly pictures for the first year and put all those pictures in an inexpensive book photo album.
