cutting a slice of pound cake

Pound cake makes for a beautiful homemade dessert!

Pairing a slice of cream cheese pound cake with fresh berries and whipped cream is one of my very favorite desserts. It’s a perfect one to consider all year round for birthdays, brunches, or a special weekend treat.

The result is a rich, dense, yet soft cream cheese pound cake in a bundt cake pan that is sweet and so delicious. I added a little almond extra in addition to vanilla for that extra bakery-worthy taste.

Baking a pound cake can be a little finicky as far as cook time. We are going for a low and slow bake, so be sure to read the tips below for success!

Tips for baking the best pound cake:

  • My first attempt to bake this cake was a fail because I only baked it for just 60 minutes. Although it appeared all the way cooked, once I transferred it to a plate it was still raw on the inside. My second time around, I added another 40 minutes and made sure to use a toothpick or wood skewer to test for doneness. Once inserted, if the cake is done the toothpick will onlinee out clean.
  • Silicone bundt pans (which is what I used) can take longer to cook onlinepared to metal pans so keep this in mind. They are great for easy storage and nonstick, but sometimes don’t heat evenly as metal pans do. You may need to test it with a toothpick and add additional bake time.
  • Wait at least 10-15 minutes to let the cake cook slightly before flipping it over on a cooling rack or plate.

taking a bite of pound cake

Pound cake is such a perfect versatile dessert!

I served it with berries and whipped cream but you could always drizzle it with a lemon glaze or maybe fresh peaches and whipped cream. The cream cheese vanilla pound cake is such a great basic recipe as a jumping-off point. I love that it has minimal ingredients and is fun to make and eat!

Here’s what my teammate Jenna had to say about this pound cake recipe:

“This cake is as tasty as it is beautiful and is also easy to make too! I had no trouble throwing this together for dessert and the whole family loved it. It’s amazing by itself but I highly reonlinemend adding fresh berries and cream for the ultimate treat!”

Be sure to check out my family’s favorite Sherry Poppyseed Cake as another bundt cake idea!

Looks great, Lina! I love trying the recipes that you share and my favorite to date is the “No-Mess Sheet Pan Shrimp Boil on the Grill or in the Oven!”. You guys, if you haven’t tried that one yet, search for it by name on this site. It’s amazing!

Ya’ll are so right about the shrimp boil!! We were planning one to cook on the grill burner outside, because it was just too messy in the house. Rain changed our plans, so sheet pan shrimp boil it was–and it was just as delicious as the original!! Boy can we get off point–what happened to the cream cheese pound cake?? One of my all time faves, too. Thanks to Lina, again!

I’m not a fan of Almond flavor. Can you taste the almond in this pound cake? Otherwise it looks like a great pound cake. I really want to make this.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes, just omit the almond extract. Enjoy Nancy!

  4. Jessica
