Here’s what you need to know about the Walmart Price Match Policy:

the home depot store front

When price matching while in-store, Walmart will only price match Walmart.online on in-stock identical items and may be limited to one per customer, per item, per day.

When price matching an item sold on Walmart.online for online purchase, it must be sold from one of the approved onlinepeting retailers. These retailers include:

The item needs to be identical to the one you’re price matching, including the same size, model, quantity, brand, and color. Be sure to confirm that the item is in stock both on Walmart.online and the website of the onlinepeting retailer before making a price match request. Walmart will guarantee a price match for one item per individual customer per day; this doesn’t apply to New Mexico unless the purchase is for resale.

Now that you know what’s eligible, how do you go about price matching?

Shopping online? Simply contact Walmart Customer Care by going here and clicking on the contact us button at the bottom of the page before placing an online order. They will then need to confirm the eligibility of a price match.

In-store, the on-duty manager has the final say, and, if deemed appropriate, they’ll approve your price match request after verifying that the same exact item is in stock on Walmart.online for a lower price.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

You can make price match requests in-store for online prices, but you cannot price match in-store prices.

Be sure to review the Walmart Price Match exclusions as there are a lot!

Waay too much hassle. But thank you. I asked my local Walmart to price match on an instock product at Walmart.online a few years ago and I was informed that they DON’T PRICE MATCH FOR ANYONE. The associate made me feel like I was trying to get away with something. I wonder how many of the associates are trained in this onlineplicated process.

  2. Moody

Afaik, walmart doesn’t match in-store vs online walmart.online prices. They say they are different entities. Are you saying they do?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! “Walmart will only price match Walmart.online on in-stock identical items and may be limited to one per customer, per item, per day.” The on duty manager will have the final say. Hope this helps!

    • riss

That’s what I was told, too, years ago. Kinda odd that they don’t price match online price.

  3. Kathryn

Agreed, too much hassle even if it works and especially if it doesn’t. Why not order online for store pickup?

    • Amber

Exactly, or shop somewhere else. Walmart’s made everything way harder than it needs to be. And I’m sick of paying full price for all of the stuff I have to scan and pack myself. Some stores around me only have one register open if that. If I wanted to scan and bag I’d be a cashier again.

  4. Sara

The best way I save a ton of money at Walmart is by not shopping there at all. Easy and simple

  5. Couponanimal

I don’tshop WM frequently, but I’ve never had a problem price matching items. I usually do self checkout and have the item pulled up on my phone. The cashier just onlinees over and does a price change.

  6. Laura

Agreed that it’s too much of a hassle. I tried price matching a fisher price toy at the register and was told I had to go to customer service. I went and was told there I had to wait for a manager. After 30 minutes, I left the toy there and ordered online. Another time, I tried price matching an item in electronics and the lady gave me such a run around, even though I scanned it with my phone on the Walmart app, and showed her the online price. I just gave up and walked away. When I returned to see if I could find a different associate, I heard the associate (who gave me a hard time) telling another associate to put that item in the back because she was going to purchase it on her lunch break. Grrr!! I just ordered it online. It really truly is a big hassle. Just order online.!

  7. aidan

Was there yesterday purchasing 2 surge protectors. They were $27.96 in store but I saw they were $20.96 online for pick up. I asked for a price match and they said they do not price match their store’s online prices because those are online prices only. I called customer service and they confirmed that is true 😡 they said they price match other retailers prices but not their own. Didn’t and doesn’t make sense to me!

    • Moody

      Exactly what I was saying!!!

  8. Mirela

Not related to the post/ does anyone uses a square brush for blow drying? Thanks in advance!

  9. Monique

Walmart sucks I never shop there

  10. Haley

Walmarts here in Utah haven’t price-matched for years. Then they tried to do that ridiculous Savings Catcher thing. It’s not worth it, IMO.

  11. Stacy

Most stores will not price match Walmart online. Also, not all stores opt in to price matching now.

  12. Sue

If I find something cheaper online at Walmart versus their in store price, I usually just order it for store pick-up if I can. While I may have to make another trip, I find it easier than trying to argue for a price match.

  13. Brittany

Imo, Walmart’s prices aren’t necessarily the lowest around anymore. Sometimes on groceries, but otherwise, I onlinee out better hitting up sales at places such as Target and the grocery stores. I get a cleaner store and better customer service. And if Walmart is cheaper online, I price match at Target. I much rather give them my business, and not be treated like I am a thief for asking about a price match.

  14. Heidi Rictor

Walmart in my book is not worth the efforts to try and price match at. However, Food Maxx is still very worth it to price match at.

  15. NubianGoddess

I think it would cause too many problems trying to price match at Walmart. There are several Walmart associates that don’t know what they are doing and just invent their own policies. I don’t need extra stress in my life.

  16. chelseabbc

Walmart always gives me trouble. I dread shopping there. I bought a bag of sand from the garden center recently and there was a rollback sign on it that said $1.50 down from $5. Spoke to the associate working the garden center and she said it was the last of their inventory for that item so it was discounted to clear and if I have issues at checkout then they can call back to her and she would verify. She told me her name and everything. I get to the front to checkout and it took almost 10 minutes for 2 associates and 1 manager to verify that my $5 bag of sand was discounted to $1.50 even though there was a huge sign if someone had bothered to run back there and check and even though I told them the associate’s name back in garden to call and ask. What a headache!!!

  17. Lisa BLUMENSTEIN

Walmarts in my area stopped price matching years ago and I shop there very little because of that. I shop there for a few things I can’t find other places. Walmart lost me when they stopped price matching

  18. Louise Hooper Shankle

Absolutely for the birds!! Purchased in store then found out .online was several dollars less. I do A LOT of Walmart shopping but am definitely rethinking this decision.

  19. Denise

If you find it cheaper somewhere else then why not go there. Allot of drama for nothing and as any store Walmart has to make profit to pay their bills

  20. StevenTN

If Walmart doesn’t want to price match with walmart.online then that is their prerogative. However they should should list the damn in-store price along with the on-line price on their website. Got screwed 2 times driving to Walmart to buy an item only to find the in-store price was higher. Example was a car battery, $98 on-line versus $128 in-store. That to me is plain ridiculous.
