4 Easy Foil Packet Meals to Throw in the Oven, on the Grill, Or Take Camping (+ Dessert Idea)

Once foil packet meals are ready, each person can dig into a delicious individually portioned homemade meal. I especially love the roasted and crisped texture the foods get in tin foil meals!
Today I am sharing four different protein and veggie foil packet meal onlinebinations. I also have a fun dessert option to make use of delicious summer berries.
Tips for making yummy foil packet meals:

- For those that don’t love the idea of cooking on foil, sometimes I will layer a smaller piece of parchment paper over a larger 12×18 piece of foil. It makes it less likely to stick too. I also use olive oil or non-stick spray.

- Seal the top of the foil, but still leave just a little room at the top for steam. For larger packets, I also use two layers of foil to ensure it won’t break on the grill.

- Make sure to cut your veggies into pretty small pieces so they will get tender faster and cook at the same speed as the protein. You can even consider using frozen veggies as those work great in foil packets too!

- In general, foil packets can be made in the oven or on the BBQ grill. The cook times may vary slightly so you may need to check near the end of cook times for doneness. I think 425 degrees is a good temperature to cook them in the oven, and medium heat on the grill. If your grill has a thermometer, try to get it to as close to 425 degrees.
Here are some of my favorite foil packet meal ideas:
1.) Ground Beef and Veggies Foil Packet Meal
This casual tin foil dinner is so filling with delicious chopped-up potatoes and veggies. You can change it up with desired vegetables and seasonings. The simplicity of the meal makes it super onlineforting and a yummy family favorite!
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef (I used 85/15)
- 1 dried onion soup packet
- 3 small russet potatoes, sliced
- 1 large carrot, sliced
- 4 white mushrooms
- 1 cup chopped fresh green beans
- 1/2 of a red onion
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons steak seasoning (such as Kinder’s)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven or grill to 425 degrees.
- Mix the ground beef with the dried soup packet, and set aside.
- In a large bowl mix the veggies with olive oil and steak seasoning.
- To each foil packet, add 1/4 of the veggies, and top with a burger patty.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes on the grill or in the oven.
2.) Salmon & Asparagus Foil Packet Meal
This beautiful foil meal packet features simple herbed butter salmon and asparagus. You can make your own herbed butter or see if your store sells premade for a shortcut. Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 4 lemons
- 4 salmon fillets (about 4 oz. each)
- 1 tablespoon prepared herbed butter
- bundle of fresh asparagus, cut into thirds
- 2 yellow squash, sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt & 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Directions:
- Preheat the oven or grill to 425 degrees.
- Cut a lemon in half. Cut one of the halves into three slices and lay on an 8×12 piece of foil, and lay a piece of fish overtop the lemon slices. Using the other half of the lemon, and squeeze the lemon juice over the top of the fish. Add herbed butter to the top of the fish. Repeat for all 4 packets.
- Toss the veggies with olive oil and salt and pepper.
- Divide the veggies among the four foil packets to the side of the fish.
- Seal each packet and cook for 20-22 minutes on the grill or in the oven until veggies are tender and salmon is flaky.
3.) Sausage, Corn, and Potatoes Foil Packet Meal
This foil packet features smoked sausage with veggies and potatoes for a delicious mix of flavors and textures! I used cajun seasoning for the veggies and loved the tasty result.
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 12 oz. package of smoked sausage
- 2 bell peppers
- 1 zucchini
- 1/2 of a red onion
- 3 medium Yukon gold potatoes
- 2 ears of fresh corn
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon cajun seasoning
Directions:
- Preheat the oven or grill to 425 degrees.
- Chop veggies and sausage into bite-size pieces, and the corn into thirds or quarters.
- In a large bowl, toss all with olive oil and seasoning.
- Assemble packets by first stacking two pieces of tin foil, adding sausage & veggies on top, and sealing it with a top layer of foil, pressing the edges together.
- Grill for about 18-20 minutes until veggies are crisp-tender.
4.) Chicken Fajitas Foil Packet meal
Fajitas are a winning meal everyone loves and they are super easy to prepare as a tin foil dinner. Use a seasoning packet if camping or feel free to make your own blend. Serve with warm tortillas on the side, avocado, sour cream, and all your favorite toppings!
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 1.5 pounds chicken, sliced
- 2 bell peppers, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 packet fajita seasoning
- tortillas on the side
- any desired toppings such as avocado, cilantro, sour cream, or lime wedges
Directions:
- Preheat the oven or grill to 425 degrees.
- To a large bowl, add the sliced peppers, onion, chicken, and olive oil. Toss the fajita seasoning and coat evenly.
- To an 8×12 piece of foil, add 1/4 of the mixture to each and seal the edges.
- Place on the grill or the oven for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve with warmed tortillas, sliced avocado, sour cream, and a squeeze of lime.
5.) Berry Crisp Foil Packets Dessert
Fresh berries are topped with sweetened oatmeal and butter, then grilled for a delicious sweet dessert. Top with vanilla ice cream for an over-the-top indulgence.
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 3 cups fresh berries (I used blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup butter, chopped or grated
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:
- Preheat the oven or grill to 425 degrees.
- Spray four 8×10 inch pieces of foil with nonstick spray.
- onlinebine the berries in one bowl and sweeten them with granulated sugar.
- In another bowl, onlinebine oats, butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt.
- For each packet: Spoon a layer of berries onto the middle of the foil, followed by a layer of oat mixture. Repeat with another layer of berries and oats. Place the 2nd piece of foil on top, and seal the ends.
- Place foil packets on the oven or grill. Cook for about 15-18 minutes until berries are melted and bubbling, and the oatmeal mixture is browned.
- Serve warm as is, or topped with whipped cream or ice cream.
