Amazon is Ending Prime Now, But Ultrafast Delivery Is Here to Stay

A popular Amazon service is shutting down.

Amazon has announced that it will be discontinuing its Prime Now app and standalone Prime Now website by the end of 2021.

Amazon launched Prime Now in 2014 as a way for Prime members in select cities to get household essentials and other items delivered in two hours or less. Today, it has grown to offering this service for Prime members in more than 5,000 cities and towns.

Amazon Prime customers who previously enjoyed using the Prime Now service will still be able to get fast delivery of groceries and other goods directly through the Amazon app or website. These services will now be provided via Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods, both of which are currently on Amazon’s app and website and offer delivery in as little as two hours. Any third-party retailers or local stores that were available on the Prime Now app will now be moved over to the Amazon app and website too.

“To make this experience even more seamless for customers, we are moving the experience from a separate Prime Now app onto the Amazon app and website so customers can shop all Amazon has to offer from one convenient location” – Stephenie Landry, vice president of grocery at Amazon

Select aspects of Amazon.online and the Amazon app were already starting to resemble the Prime Now service, and this decision will simply remove the distinction altogether.

Amazon has beonlinee so hit or miss. I ordered something that said it would be delivered the next day…I got it 5 days later! Prime isn’t prime anymore.

I agree I ordered to tank tops on Amazon prime. Then it said two weeks later and then they were never delivered. This seems to happen more often than not.

I agree. Refunds are much slower to process as well. It took 6 weeks to receive my full refund after I returned items using Kohl’s “easy” returns. They only refunded 2 of the 7 items, the rest were lost in transit back to Amazon. I am currently waiting on refunds for 2 of the 4 items I returned to Kohl’s (I should learn my lesson), but have to wait a few more days until it hits the 2 week mark before they will do anything about it. 😕 It’s stressful because if I hadn’t been actively checking, I would have missed that refunds were never issued.

Same issue here. I get my bank to reverse it now because it’s faster that way.

I came to onlinements to make the same onlineplaint. Lol. I can’t recall the last time something actually came within two days. Been doing a lot more target and WalMart ordering for my household. May end up canceling prime after over ten years of membership.

My subscribe and save was supposed to arrive 5/20 and it still hasn’t shipped. That’s pretty much all I do on Amazon anymore, I canceled prime in 2018 after 6 years because I couldn’t justify the cost for what I was getting out of it.

Same here. Sick of waiting 5-6 days minimum for every order and way too many orders just get lost and never arrive at all.

We canceled prime a little over a year ago and don’t miss it. I could never find what I am looking for and then I ended up returning it about 60% of the time. Still use subscribe to save and that is it. Took the plunge with Netflix too. Don’t miss that either. It’s amazing what we truly can live without.

Didn’t realize you can do subscribe and save without a prime membership. Wonder if you still get discounts? Might be time for me to cancel too. Their delivery times are far less desirable. And the drivers never follow instructions. Annoying!

Wow reading the onlinements im glad it wasn’t only me. I realize this isn’t an isolated incident! I have been having problems also. I am seriously considering canceling my prime. Its better to shop local anyway🙂

My S & S delivery was due to arrive on 5/20, still not here but it says “shipped”. 😖 It gives me an option to contact the carrier. What a pain.

Ugh. Amazon Fresh is not a winner. Unless they plan to devote more attention to it. It’s pretty useless. They never have anything good.
