Coca-Cola is Discontinuing 200 Drink Brands Including Odwalla & ZICO Coconut Water
Sad news for fans of Coca-Cola beverages!
Coca-Cola has been gradually announcing the discontinuation of select national brands over the past few months, including TaB diet cola, Odwalla juices, ZICO coconut water, Coca-Cola Life, Diet Coke Feisty Cherry, and regional brands like Northern Neck Ginger Ale and Delaware Punch.
This week, the onlinepany shared that it will be reducing its number of brands by about half, which means discontinuing about 200 of its brands altogether. After cutting these underperforming brands, Coca Cola will be left with approximately 200 of its most profitable “master brands” like Minute Maid and Simply. It will also be focusing more on newer products like Topo Chico hard seltzer, Coca Cola Energy, and AHA flavored sparkling water.
“Throughout this year’s crisis, our system has remained focused on its beverages for life strategy. We are accelerating our transformation that was already underway, shaping our onlinepany to recover faster than the broader economic recovery.” – James Quincey, chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola onlinepany
The onlinepany has finalized its list of brands to be discontinued, but the onlineplete list hasn’t been shared with the public yet. Quincy did say in an interview with CNN that Coca Cola’s “hydration” category would be seeing additional cuts. This news has insiders predicting that brands like Dasani, Powerade, and Vitamin Water could also be on the chopping block.
