Apple Agrees to $500 Million iPhone Settlement & You Could Qualify
Listen up iPhone users!
Apple recently agreed to settle 2017’s “Batterygate” lawsuit with a $500 million payout – and you may qualify for a cut of it!
Not sure what “Batterygate” is? In late 2016, some iPhone users noticed decreased performance and unexpected shutdowns after installing an iOS update when their phone reached a battery capacity of 30% or less. In 2017, Apple admitted to changing system performance to preserve battery life.
Customers were not happy and thought Apple was pushing them to spend money to upgrade their iPhones – hence this lawsuit.
Anyone who currently owns or owned the following iPhones prior to December 21st, 2017 can submit a claim:
- iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus and/or SE devices that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later
- iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices that ran iOS 11.2 or later
To submit your claim, head here and enter your iPhone’s serial number or look up the number with their search tool. You can also mail in a claim form by downloading it online, emailing the Claims Administrator at [email protected], or by calling 1-833-649-0927.
Claims must be submitted online or received through mail by October 6th, 2020. Head here for more information on this settlement and qualification criteria.
How much and when will I get it?
A final court hearing to approve the settlement is scheduled for December 4th, 2020. If there are no appeals, settlements will be quickly processed. The estimated payout is $25 per affected device.
