Things are getting really cheesy around here!

While stuck in quarantine, we’ve discovered all new types of amazing recipe hacks, like 3-ingredient whipped strawberry milk and delicious whipped coffee, but the latest one that has us totally drooling is Disney’s grilled cheese recipe…

…better yet, we put it in a waffle maker and the results are everything! 🙌

We’ve been loving Disney-everything lately like the churros recipe Lina made and the cute Mickey Mouse shaped waffle maker that Jami is obsessed with.

But if you’ve even been to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (which unfortunately is currently closed) and had the grilled three-cheese sandwich from Woody’s lunch box, you probably already know just how amazing it is—we’re having some major FOMO!

Plus, who doesn’t love warm, gooey grilled cheese?!

It’s a super simple onlinefort food that hits the spot every single time! But what could make it even better we thought? 🤔

Obviously, a waffle maker! 💡

This isn’t your typical grilled cheese though, this magical Disney inspired one contains just a few more ingredients like fresh garlic, artisan bread, mayo, and cream cheese.

Watch Stetson make this decadent waffle grilled cheese in the video above or click here to watch it on YouTube!

There’s no guesswork when making this recipe either.

When Stetson whipped this up, he surprisingly said it wasn’t difficult at all!

To make this stand out grilled cheese, you’ll first create a delicious cream cheese spread, then a garlic spread that’s a onlinebination of mayo, salt, and garlic. This recipe also serves four, so make sure to plan on enjoying it with family!

Next, you’ll get out some artisan bread, slices of cheese, and start to pile all the goodness together, according to the directions in the Disney recipe found here.

Now’s the fun part…

Adding the grilled cheese to your waffle maker! Stetson did mention that he sprayed his with nonstick cooking spray prior to cooking for easy cleanup. Also, if you buy this waffle maker that we used, you can cook two grilled cheese sandwiches at once!

When your waffle maker beeps (or according to Stetson, about 3 minutes later) your grilled cheese is ready to go!

Here’s what Stetson says about his taste test:

“I wasn’t really sure what to expect when making this grilled cheese, and to be honest, I was a bit concerned based on my prior mishaps in the kitchen. 😬 BUT I actually thought it was so delicious and had a nice crunch to it.

The additions of the cream cheese spread and garlic spread make this sandwich so flavorful, and I love the crunch you get with every bite. Also, if you are a cheese lover like me, don’t be afraid to add more cheese to get that extra stringy cheese pull effect. It’s the best! 😋

To finish it out, this sandwich would be awesome dipped in some marinara sauce, honey mustard, ranch dressing, BBQ sauce – really any of your fave sauces/dips! Enjoy, and let us know if you try this.”

Can you tell there is mayo at all? The thought of hot mayo and melted cheese doesn’t sit well with my stomach lol

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! I just spoke with Stetson. He let me know that he didn’t taste the mayo much as the garlic helped to cover it up. Hope this is helpful!

Amazing! I’ve seen this all over Tic Tok.. you guys are Tik Tok crazy lately:)

Honestly when I make grill cheese , I spread the bread with a thin layer of mayo instead of butter. Perfectly toasted everytime and easier to spread and you DO NOT taste the mayo.

    • Lisa JP

Same here. It’s how I was taught to make them about 35 years ago when I was 7 or 8. I don’t necessarily do it thin, but don’t drench it either. I like it when the egg from the mayo cooks on the outside like eggs on French Toast do. I’m not a mayo fan, but I must have it on grilled cheese.

That’s exactly what I do too, Debbie! Gives it such a great flavor and texture. And you really can’t taste the mayo. Plus it doesn’t burn as easily as butter!

Thats exactly what I do too.
I do not like mayo at all and you cannot taste it on the grill cheese.

My friend showed me this years ago, and it’s amazing! I love dipping my grilled cheese in a side of jalapeño peppers.

    Any suggestions on cleanup afterwards?

I guess it’s all about the non-stick spray and pray for patience?
