We LOVE the BoxyCharm Boxes!

BoxyCharm is the best cosmetic box that I’ve tried. I’ve had Macy’s, Sephora, Target, Birchbox, Ipsy and the only one I’ve continued with is Boxy!

BoxyCharm is hands down the best beauty box – all full size, mostly high-end products. Always well over $100 value!

All of these photos appear to be of the Luxe box, which is much more expensive. They don’t reflect what people should except to receive in the base box. Also, I’ve had terrible experiences with boxycharm lately. Broken products, issues with their site, and their customer service is the WORST. If your box arrives intact, you may be ok. But good luck if you ever have anything go wrong. Which happens a lot. I’m unsubscribing.

We have updated the pictures. I’m sorry you had a bad experience. We appreciate your honest feedback, Kate!

Please read my onlinement about my HORRIBLE experience with their customer service.

Agree this is not the basic BoxyCharm my products were a cheap lipgloss that looked like it was for a 12 year old, I did get the mini hair straightener but all other items were not worth it at all and most items I won’t even use

  3. petra

i personally love boxycharm and have never had any problems! I get the regular box, luxe and premium. lol

    • Ang

Love my boxycharm! I look forward to getting my boxes every month!!

  4. Carrie

I’ve been a boxycharm subscriber for over a year now and have also gotten a few of the boxyluxe boxes and I personally love them. Sure I get some items I‘ll never use but I get tons of stuff that is awesome and I pry never would have tried. It’s def worth the money!!

I am trying to decide boxycharm or Ipsy…opinions. I usually get strong opinions one way or the other.

    • casey

Ipsy is the better, more reliable service IMO. Boxycharm has bigger name brand stuff but i’ve found it’s not necessarily stuff I find myself using. I go for the Ipsy products way more than boxy stuff i’ve accumulated. Honestly i’d reonlinemend you check out websites like mysubscriptionaddiction or the beautybox subreddit and pick what looks good for you based off the spoilers posted there.

      • Jennifer Mitchell

Thanks! I’ve tried a month of each. Like you said boxycharm did seem to have higher value stuff. There were a couple of items in each one I wasn’t excited about. I don’t want to have to change every month so trying to decide which way I’m leaning. Thanks for taking time to respond. I’ve read quite a bit from mysubscriptionaddiction.

BEWARE! They have shady business ethics and horrible customer service. Last month I signed up for a 3-month prepaid subscription, but forgot to use a promo code that would have entitled me to a free gift. I emailed them to let them know I would be canceling the subscription that I had just placed because I had forgotten to use the promo code and I informed them that I would be purchasing a new prepaid subscription, but this time with the promo code. We corresponded over email many times regarding this issue and never once did they mention that they do not allow subscription refunds, even if the subscription is canceled just one-hour after placed. They are refusing to refund me the $75 I payed for the first prepaid subscription, even though it was canceled within one hour of creation, and replaced with a second prepaid subscription. The worst part is that this onlinepany had multiple opportunities to express their refund policy to me over our email thread because I had onlinemunicated to them exactly what I was doing and why I was doing it before I canceled the subscription and created a new one. I really like the boxes I have received and would have purchased an annual subscription after my 3-month subscription expired, but I cannot excuse their shady immoral ethics and I will not be doing business with them again.

  7. Casey

Boxy was okay for the few months i was subscribed, but I felt like I was always getting the “worst box” variation because I’m not an influencer/social media person. I had to contact their customer service countless times because my “choice” item wasn’t ever included in the box they sent me. TO THEIR CREDIT, they did eventually send the right item but I had to absolutely BADGER them for it and it just wasn’t worth the effort to me.

They also don’t take into account the beauty quiz you fill out. At all. Like, they’ll tell you straight up they don’t use it right now so don’t go into it thinking you’re going to get a customized experience like Ipsy.

Also, some of their products are expired/old stock. I bought a korres rose oil in the ‘popup’ sale for super cheap and was very excited. Only to find that it was absolutely rancid and unusable. I threw it out when other people looked it up and found out it was manufactured in 2014!

BUT for $25 it’s really not terrible if you keep all of the above in mind. I don’t regret the sub and I will consider resubscribing again if the spoilers posted on MySubscriptionAddiction look good. But lately it seems like a bunch of crap no one wants (KVD for example.) I just really strongly caution you to avoid the prepaid subscriptions.

Something recently that put me off boxy was this scandal involving a new ‘onlinepany’ thats sole product was a 24k gold face cream by faccia. It was discovered by internet sleuths that this cream was just something bought en masse from Alibaba (cheap chinese crap) for $1 per, slapped a new label on it and suddenly it’s $100. People then discovered that the creator of this onlinepany owns a bunch of other shady onlinepanies with similar practices. Real sketchy stuff and the fact that boxy was putting this “premium” product in their sub was a turn off. But the rest of that month’s box looked great if you threw that product out.

  8. JenB

I have purchased many boxes from BoxyCharm and love a lot of the items I received. Many of them were worth much more than the box cost me. However, Casey has a point. Some people online were claiming they used a website which tells you the age of your cosmetics and their Boxy items came up as being several years old. Cosmetics don’t last that long. Some people claimed to have received rancid smelling items. Also there is a seller who owns multiple cosmetics onlinepanies that sells them to Ipsy and BoxyCharm. She has been caught buying items from Ali Baba and reselling the items as hers, which means they might not have been made in a clean environment and could have harmful ingredients. Ipsy immediately stopped selling her products and BoxyCharm didn’t and are ignoring all concerns about it. My verdict is that Boxy is worth buying from if you see the previews that they are selling something you really want and know you will use soon after purchasing. And if you don’t see brands in a Boxy or Ipsy box on other websites like Sephora and Ulta the brand might be owned by a swindler.
