AT&T has had for some time a loyalty program where you can buy select phones at a discount in exchange for a 2 year onlinemitment. This does not require a new line, only that you are out of contract on your existing line.

An example of this is the 64GB iPhone XR discounted to $150 + tax. Typing this on one I got last month under this program.

Just call the AT&T phone # & ask for loyalty at the prompt.

Oh cool! Thanks for sharing, Ed!

    • Gscribble

      Woah thank you!

    • Emily

But beware they add a $20 per line fee when you go through the loyalty department UNLESS you have unlimited data plan. It’s been a big issue on deal boards because it’s not always disclosed that your bill will increase and basically negate the phone discount

thanks for this! I’m seriously considering switching from Verizon for our business. The phones are just outrageous right now with nothing great for deals.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      You’re so welonlinee!

    • IB

Agree. And Verizon offers no deals like these.

    • shop4mybabies

be careful when switching…we have 6 lines with verizon, we pay 357$ a month which is ridiculous. sprint offered us an amazing deal with 6 brand new phones and all the same unlimited for 190$ a month…the service was so terrible we had to switch back in 2 days and we live in a big city where service should never be an issue…there really is no service as good as verizons and the 1% difference they claim is huge apparently

My neighbor said the same thing about AT&T. Horrible horrible service. She can’t wait to get back to Verizon

I want a phone with a good camera. I currently have iphone 7 (not impressed). Is the XR camera significantly better than 7, or would it be best to save/wait for the new Pro?

    • IB

Pro has the best iPhone camera of all, but also costs a lot more.

    • Ed

The 7 and XR have the same MP on the cameras. Main differences between 7 And X are: fingerprint/Touch ID vs Face ID and the X has a smaller overall size even though the screen is the same.

    • CBethS

Check out the Google Pixel for a great camera.

What a great deal! Hopefully T-Mobile will have a deal on iPhone soon, we really needs a new phone on one of our line…

I’ve had att for 15 years. No contract for years. iPhone 6 Plus since 2014? My son needs a line and phone, do you think I could get a XR for loyalty in the att store, and another for my son with the second line? Or are there other onlinepanies and deals I should look at? I just discovered I’ve been paying 20$ a month extra for a weird voicemail app? I never asked for. Seriously ticked at that.

  6. Jennifer

Is this amazing deal only available at the ATT store? Or is it possible to double dip through gift cards at Sams or Costco?

    • Jennifer

Either way… I am pretty sure it is worth cancelling my line and getting a new phone number so I can get the XR this cheap.

      • Jason

I added a line. Thinking of canceling kids # and wifes # to get them iPhone 8s or XR’s for $10 more a month.

  7. ashleyreidwilliams

Only available online, and you pay one time fee of $45 for 2 year activation!

    • Jennifer

Strange, I just went to the ATT store to cancel my old line and signup for a new one under this deal.

  8. Hoffpack

Thanks for all you do Hip2Save! Are there any good deals on the iPhone 11 pro? We have AT&T, but I don’t want to be tied into a contract with a new activation, etc.

  9. Olivia Otstot

So we just got two new iphone xr’s on our plan using this. Our bill is over $500 and it says our next cycle is also $500. I know that they said you will have “credits” added to your account. Has anyone had an experience like this?

    • Gigi

Their site says that the credits start showing after 2-3 billing cycles. I hope that helps.

I took this deal on July 20 that ATT advertised $5/month for iphone XR for my son(new line) with $30 activation fee. But when my bill onlinees, they charged $20/month for the device for 30 months. When talk with ATT, they informed the plan also has to be changed to unlimited but when I took the deal it was not there. Worst customer service and now I am so pissed off with them. Very carefull take their service.
