   I’ve always loved this idea! I prefer to use a box that has food safe plastic instead of the tackle boxes though. My kids love them!

  Just a tip: You can check the bottom of the boxes to see what plastic they are made of. This should let you know if they are food safe. Many of these tackle boxes are made of the same materials as the plastic containers food onlinees in at the store.

   Thanks for the tip about dollar store candies, Leah! I was sitting here thinking, but how much candy would I have to buy (at $4-6/bag) to get a good variety to include? If I get to the dollar store between now and Tuesday, I’ll make these for my kiddos.

   Also a great tip for this – buy Christmas candy when it goes on sale after Christmas and use the red ones for Valentine’s Day in Feb and the green ones for St Patricks Day in Mar!

   I did this last year for our grandsons but for Easter. It was a great vessel kin stead of the usual Easter basket. I did full on tackle boxes with trays. Found a great deal last year on tackle boxes on clearance at Walmart and paid $5.00 a box. I filled with gummy sharks, Swedish fish, gold fish, hot wheels car fit perfectly in the tiered tray slots and healthy Z-bars in the bottom onlinepartment. We also bought the grandsons their own telescopic fishing poles. The tackle boxes were a big hit!!! I try to onlinee up with inventive alternatives to the Easter basket each year! This year I am doing large mesh beach bags filled with beach toys, water shoes, towel, sunglasses, friction trucks, frisbee, beach kites and of course healthy treats with some chocolate. Always try to do things that are useful after Easter so it is not a waste of money.

   Another great candy option is the bulk bins at Winco if there is one near you! You can get as much or as little as you need and it’s cheap!
