Over 28,000 Pounds of Ground Beef Recalled for Possible E. Coli Contamination
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service are recalling over 28,000 lbs of ground beef due to it potentially being contaminated with E. Coli, a potentially deadly bacteria.
The meat was distributed by Interstate Meat Distributors out of Oregon and sold at WinCo, Wal-Mart, Albertsons, and Kroger stores in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, and Utah.
To see if your products may be affected, look for the establishment number “EST. 965” inside the USDA mark of inspection or printed next to the time stamp and use or freeze by date. You can also head here to view the labels and packaging of the meat products that are being recalled.
If you are in possession of these ground beef products, you are urged not to consume them and either dispose of them or return them to the store where you purchased them. Don’t forget to check your freezer too!
If you believe you may have consumed an affected product and are experiencing any symptoms including dehydration, bloody diarrhea, and abdominal cramps for between 2-8 days, please do not hesitate to seek emergency medical care immediately. Generally, most people can recover after exposure to the organism, but young children and the elderly will be at a greater risk.
