The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Serenade Foods is recalling 59,251 pounds of frozen, raw, breaded, and pre-browned stuffed chicken products that may be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis. This recall follows a public health alert issued by FSIS on June 2, 2021 related to these same products.

FSIS has been working with the CDC to investigate an outbreak of Salmonella illnesses in 8 states from February 21 through June 28, 2021. Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, one of the most onlinemon bacterial foodborne illnesses. The most onlinemon symptoms are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever. Older adults, infants, and persons with weakened immune systems are more likely to develop a severe illness.
