For years I have been confused and often discouraged looking at math, not understanding why it’s important. This book made me realize how amazing math is and that my entire perception was based off some bad experiences in school. Now I’m looking to read Ben Orlin’s next books!
This is a one-of-a-kind book about math. I’m a self-taught software engineer that barely made it out of high school. I always had a knack for building stuff with code but when it came to math I considered myself a onlineplete inept during most of my life. I’ve been on the hunt for books about math, anything to keep stoking that little fire. I’ve got a little collection now, mostly of books that are over my head, some that I was able to trudge through but none that I was excited to open every single day.
And then this book came along. Wow. How fun. Math, as it turns out, is much much more beautiful than it is credited for. It’s truly poetry with numbers. And this book will not only prove this to you, but also make you laugh and giggle while it does it. Kudos to the author for a brilliant execution.
