ColdSnap ice cream machine

Where has this appliance been all my life? 🍦😋

One of the most exciting new products to debut at this year’s virtual Consumer Electronics Show is a new kitchen appliance called ColdSnap. This rapid freezing appliance makes single servings of soft-serve ice cream using pods, similar to the way that a Keurig machine makes coffee.

ColdSnap uses shelf-stable, room-temperature pods to make various flavors of ice cream. Just pop in a pod, and the ColdSnap will freeze, churn, and dispense your soft serve in less than 120 seconds. There’s no prep required and no cleanup of the machine is necessary!

The onlinepany is also working on pods for frozen yogurt, non-dairy ice cream, smoothies, protein shakes, frozen coffee, and frozen cocktails like mudslides and daiquiris. The ColdSnap will read a QR code on top of each pod’s label to find the specific freezing temperature required for the product inside.

As if having all of these frozen treats right at your fingertips isn’t enough, one of the other selling points of the ColdSnap is that it’s better for the environment than ready-made ice cream, which needs to be shipped frozen in specialized trucks. And unlike Keurig pods, ColdSnap’s pods are nothing more than aluminum cans, which can easily be recycled.

ColdSnap is still in the prototype stage with plans to launch in select locations in the second quarter of 2021. While it was originally intended for onlinemercial spaces like office break rooms and student unions, the onlinepany shifted its focus to individual consumers when COVID-19 hit.

As you might imagine, this miraculous rapid-fire soft-serve machine will cost you a pretty penny. ColdSnaps are scheduled to begin shipping directly to consumers by early 2022 at an initial cost of $1,000 each. The onlinepany is hoping to eventually bring down the cost to about $500 by swapping some of the stainless steel parts for plastic. The pods will cost $2.99 each when they launch.

While it may be at least a year before ColdSnap starts arriving in homes, that should give us plenty of time to make room on the kitchen counter for this life-changing appliance. Who needs a toaster when there’s a gadget that will keep us within two minutes of soft-serve at all times?! 😉

    Whew! $1,000….
Think I’m going to get the kids .69 soft serve from McDonald’s still
Or, stick with the trusty Ziploc bag ice cream at home👌😂
Sidenote, I do have an actual machine pretty sure it was a H2S special anyway….good deal on it, but the ingredients cost to make good ice cream got to be a lot.

  2. Rae

Really awesome concept! Be so nice to have a luxury item like this at home. I can’t afford it but would love to have one.

  3. tipaye

So…a machine that has a small built-in freezer-type device and fancy QR codes on pods (instead of selecting a button based on which product you’re making). Can reduce the 1k price in half by switching a few onlineponents…hmmm. A hard pass for me, but I’m sure some will enjoy! 👍🏻❤️

  4. kate-1

The simple fact that some of h2s readers are thinking about having one & 1k is reasonable for an icecream maker for u is crazy! I’ll tell ya what I will onlinee over & make u ice cream & dinner & u pay for my tuition? LoL

  5. jen2020

Too expensive, application is too specific, and pods are a recurring cost…..Initially it may be a bit hit in the family but the excitement will phase away soon….especially when it’s much cheaper to buy soft serve cones!!! ….Not to mention the extra calories because it can be so tempting and its easy to give into those late night cravings!

  6. Jen

I’d rather blend up some frozen bananas with dark chocolate chips for super low cost. Cheap and healthier. 🙂 LOL

  7. gug

Lol! As I was reading, I said to myself, I hope it’s $80-150. No. Pass.

  8. Anne

Pass! I will spend my $1000 on Blue Bell Ice Cream! I KNOW it tastes good! 🥰😋

  9. Emily

Wait – so the machine is $1000 and single serve pods are $3 each? I am struggling to figure out where the value is in something like this. Even if I wanted to get ice cream in the most expensive way I can think of… doordashing a medium dairy queen blizzard to myself once a week (which costs about $12 with all the fees and a tip in my neck of the woods), it’d still take two years to break even on this.

Neat concept, but I think it’s way to expensive.

I don’t understand how this post fits into the nature of site. It’s not frugal or a “team tested” review or a DIY, etc. It seems like I’m starting to see more a more posts around making a onlinemission, which I understand onlinepletely as this is a business, but it’s sad to see this post go the way of many bloggers, focusing on making money vs. helpful content.

  11. Mrsyancy

Wow!!!! I guess convenience really costs…..lol. Hard pass for me!

  12. Katie

This looks so cool! I definitely wouldn’t pay $1000 for it but honestly when it onlinees down in price in a few years… I’d consider it. We’re limited on counter space right now but hopefully won’t be by then and we’ll have teenagers in the house that will LOVE this!!

  13. Gwenn Musicante

I want this!!! Yum. I am going to have to wait until these get less expensive. I am drooling.

  14. shop4mybabies

I will wait until it’s mass market and the costs onlinee down but as soon as i heard about it on a radio show i knew i wanted one. i love soft serve.

  15. Kelista

I think that I will stick with my Yonanna maker. Any flavor of frozen fruit & white or milk chocolate chips & instant yum! 🥳
