There’s a Little House on the Prairie Reboot in the Works!
Little House, big news!
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Paramount TV Studios is developing a reboot of the beloved Little House on the Prairie TV series! The original TV show aired from 1974-1983 and is still popular with audiences in 30 countries, where reruns continue to air. Just like the original, the new Little House adaptation will be an hour-long drama series that tells the story of Laura Ingalls, her family, and life in the 1800s.
“Fans are eager to see Little House on the Prairie onlinee back to the screen, and we agree the time is right,” said Trip Friendly, who will serve as an executive producer on the show. His father was Ed Friendly, the original series’ executive producer and owner of the TV and movie rights to Laura Ingalls Wilder’s autobiographical novels.
One of the original castmates has already weighed in on this news and offered to make an appearance. Alison Arngrim (who played one of TV’s original mean girls, Nellie Oleson) said, “I’m just the right age to play Mrs. Oleson. I’m totally there. I have no shame.”
In a world full of reboots, it’s surprising that a widely cherished classic like Little House on the Prairie took so long to get one of its own. It’s still the most-watched TV show on Hallmark Drama, and it’s now streaming on Peacock. With #cottagecore trends taking over social media, it does appear that we’re all ready for a return to simpler times with Ma, Pa, and Half-Pint herself.
Although there has been no timeline released for this project yet, we’re going to go ahead and get really excited about it anyway! 🤩📺🍿
