   I’ve always used TurboTax online and never tried purchasing the software. Question: If I buy this software and don’t do the online version, would I still need to pay the TurboTax filing fees or are those fees included with the purchase of software. If I recall I paid about $80 last year to file premier federal plus state. So, this would be a good deal if filing fees are included in the deal price. Please advise. Thanks

  I always buy the software like this (not the online version) and filing fees are included for federal. You’ll get five free federal e-files and one state download. The state will have its own separate filing fee.

  Filing fees are included with Federal with this purchase. State “filing” is included, but to file online, it is extra to file state taxes. We get this version but simply print it out and send it in … ergo, we do NOT pay the online filing fee. Does that make sense? Just print out your state taxes and mail them in (if you so desire) to safe the online filing fee. Sorry, hope I didn’t muddle that up too bad for you. We love TurboTax and have used them for well over 20 years. Love them.

   Ok so this covers the federal file fee, but is this to cover just this uponlineing filing in 2021 for 2020? Do u have to buy this each year?

  Yes, this covers one year at a time. You buy a new program with all the updated tax laws each year.

  The first year is the hardest, but once you get your info in there (employer, investments, etc), it will carry over from year to year. But yes, you still have to purchase a subscription each year.

  Agree with above poster. The first year was definitely the hardest. We have rental property and this keeps track of all the stuff from previous years so worth it for me.

   I was going to bet it but it’s the digital copy ☹️. We are old fashion over here and we rather use the disc. Wish it was the hard copy one

    Same price at Costco but it’s a coupon discount, not a giftcard so it’s less onlineplicated. They run $10 off at Costco every January.
