Your local Carter’s may be closing!

Carter’s has announced that they will be closing 25% of its retail locations – nearly 200 stores. 🙁 The closures will happen as Carter’s store leases expire, with approximately 60% of the planned closures taking place by the end of 2021.

While Carter’s hasn’t stated which locations will be closing, if your local store is in a mall or shopping center – especially a rural one – there is a good chance it will be on the list. Carter’s plans to instead focus on “open air centers” that are more convenient for same-day and curbside pickup.

Be sure to check back, as we will share the list of stores as well as any information on liquidation sales when more details are available.

that’s because I find prices in store higher than online… that is true with lots of places. why pay more in store when you can shop online and get it shipped for free? saves money and gas as long as you know the kid’s sizes ; )

Same goes for Old Navy! It’s annoying that they can’t do the same deals in-store. Yesterday I bought something in store and the nice cashier price-matched it for me with the online price, which was HALF of what it was in the store. She said most employees won’t do that but some will. Why even bother to go into the store with cheaper prices online and free shipping? If I want to try something on and it’s cheaper online, I’ll try it on in the store and then order it.

Agree. It feels like they don’t want customers in store. They carry only a few of each size, the price tends to be higher than online, and I have to put on a bra to go there 😉

Articles like this make me so sad. So many stores and onlinepanies going out of business, I’ll admit I am an online shopper, but we have lost many stores in past years. Sometimes I want to see the item I’m buying before I buy it, and returning an online order is sometimes more trouble then it’s worth, so sometimes I end up reselling it or gifting it out instead of returning, especially for a fee. My last 3 returns were at a fee to return ☹️

I love Carter’s brand but this isn’t surprising. I can get the exact same clothes with few acceptions at department stores for a quarter to even half what the Carter’s store sells them for. They need to make their stores more onlinepetitive.

I agree. And Osh Kosh is even more outrageous but has the same quality as Carter’s for more money. I guess you really are paying for that brand label. I have found that even Walmart is stepping up their game and charging much less.
