Coca-Cola says “Bye Felicia” to its first Diet Soda! 👋

2020 just got worse for Tab cola drinkers! 😭 On October 16th, the Coca-Cola onlinepany announced that it will be discontinuing Tab Soda by the end of the year as well as their Zico Coconut Water.

This news follows an announcement made by the onlinepany in September that they would be cutting over half of their 500 brands.

If this is your go-to brand of soda, you may want to hit the store and stock up while you still can!

Tab Soda

Tab first hit the market back in 1963 as the soda giant’s first-ever diet cola, helping people “keep tabs” on their weight. It had its heyday during the ’60s and ’70s but its popularity dwindled with the introduction of Diet Coke in 1982.

Coca-Cola continued to produce Tab in lesser quantities over the years and the soda has retained a cult following in the United States.

You both must be on the younger side if you don’t know what it is. Tab was one of the first really popular diet sodas and I barely recall flashy onlinemercials about it when I was really young, like early 70’s. I honestly know two people in my entire life that drank it, but like they said, it had a cult type of following.😀

My thoughts exactly. I thought it was an old soda only seen in 80s movies now. My husband said, “Oh ya, we have that stuff at my work.” I’m shocked it still exists!

It was already nearly impossible to find in stores, so no wonder they weren’t selling much of it. Too bad. It had its own unique taste. Not better or worse than Diet Coke; just different. One less choice now for those who prefer zero-calorie soda.

My dad used to buy us Tab soda in glass bottles and put salted peanuts in it for us… sounds horrible but we thought it was a treat.

I remember Tab from my childhood…in the 60’s. My sister loved it but I always thought it tasted soapy.

I remember my mom drinking this in the 70’s. She was on Weight Watchers and this was a “treat” for her. Us kids thought it was icky. Lol.

My mom drank this in the 60s and 70s. I remember they discontinued it for decades because the sweetener used was saccharin! Heaven forbid, there are 20 or 30 chemicals in soda just as bad. She was very unhappy when it was discontinued. She probably switched to diet Pepsi. One spree the same as another to me!
