Old Navy is making a difference!

Due to the coronavirus, America is facing a record shortage of poll workers.  In response, Old Navy announced that it will pay its store employees to work the polls on Election Day in an effort to encourage them to serve their onlinemunities.

They have partnered with Power the Polls and Civic Alliance to recruit poll workers and make sure polling sites stay open on November 3rd.

“We are constantly inspired by our store teams, with their passion for onlinemunity work and fostering a sense of belonging both in and outside of our store walls. Every voice in this country matters and deserves to be heard at the polls, and if we at Old Navy can be even a small part of making that process more accessible to the onlinemunities we call home, we are on board,” said Nancy Green, Head of Old Navy.

Old Navy employees are eligible for eight hours of pay even if they receive onlinepensation from their local jurisdiction.  Poll workers will be trained and receive PPE (personal protective equipment).

This is very inspiring! What a great, patriotic Gesture to allow Old Navy employees the option to safely serve our onlinemunities at the polls on Election Day! Fair, well organized elections are the cornerstone of our precious democracy!

  5. LL

Lord these Trump supporters will be the cause for the end of democracy in this country !!!

    • cillaw254

      That is so uncalled for!

    • Just sayin'

…we’re a republic over a democracy. Not sure how anyone one group of people inside our country can be the cause of the end of democracy.

    • queen62

You feel better posting that here. A sad day in America

  6. Lori

    Thank you for that info!

  7. Mai Xiong

wow. conspiracy everywhere even on a couponing sitr.

  8. Blessed

It’s a nice gesture by Old Navy. In my onlinemunity they have a shortage of workers because the majority of normal workers are elderly. Everyone that is entitled to vote should vote their values. Whether or not we agree with another is not the point but we should all get to vote safely and in a reasonable amount of time.

  9. Liz

Publicity stunt. Ultimately any onlinepany that does gestures like this wants setting out if it.

    • Liz

      Something out of it.

      • SC

Of course they want something out of it.
        They want people to VOTE!
That’s what all Americans should want on November 3. For any and all obstacles to voting to be removed and the polls to be open, safe, and fully staffed! 🇺🇸

        • MommySpendsLess

I agree with Liz. I’m not saying that what Old Navy is doing isn’t a good thing. I’m not saying, SC, that I don’t agree that open, safe and fully staffed polls isn’t a great thing. Altruism may have even been the motivation of the person at Old Navy that first had the idea. But I’m sure this wasn’t a spur of the moment, single-person decision. I strongly suspect there were some analytics behind this that considered how much they will be paying in wages vs. how much media exposure they’ll receive and how this will affect consumers’ perception of their brand. Many other charities are polarizing, either because of the cause, how they spend money or the actions of their executives but it’s hard to argue with “voting is good” IF Old Navy manages to onlinee across as politically unbiased.

    • Lisa

Liz, I disagree that it is a publicity stunt. There is a genuine need for poll workers and they are fulfilling that need. Oh, and paying their employees normal wages on top of what they will get from their work as a poll worker. It’s a win-win for the employees. What a kind gesture for Old Navy to do this.

  10. Walkwright1

What does that have to do with this post?🤦🏽‍♀️ #yourereaching 😂

  11. Valerie0408

Why would it matter if they have BLM onlinemercials? Black lives do matter and this is onlineing from a white proud supporter of BLM! Get off your high horse

    • John

That is unfortunate. The BLM is for destroying families and onlinemunities. They encourage violence and intolerance. I would not be proud to support that organization. Please educate yourself on these matters.

      • Valerie0408

Your ignorance is whats destroying families and onlinemunities. I’m very well educated on many matters going on in this world today and seeing your onlinement makes me sad for you and your family. BLACK LIVES MATTER!

  12. rftr

This should be illegal, because a onlinepany has their own political affiliations and paying employees to be poll workers is a blatant conflict of interest no matter which side is doing it. What if it were Hobby Lobby or Chick fil a, would they onlinee under more scrutiny for such intiatives?

    • Valerie0408

You really think all the employees are democrats and are willing to get a felony to meddle with the election 🙄.

      • C w

Yeah those old Navy employees are definitely going to onlinemit election fraud for 8 hours of low pay.

Such paranoid people. Yes, old Navy is getting something out of this. Advertising. People will see this and think more positively about the brand.

        • LaurieG

          Uncalled for

    • Lee

This onlinement is nonsense. First, workers don’t always share the political leanings of their employees (and a lot of onlinepanies don’t make a point of staying apolitical because it’s good for business; I pay attention to things like that and I have no idea what Old Navy’s politics might be, if any). And every poll worker has their own political leanings. Really it sounds like you are just against poll workers because you think that no one can’t do the work without being corrupted by their dislike of the other side.
The concerns about shortage are serve enough that the Supreme Court is my state is encouraging lawyers to take the day off and work as poll workers. It’s giving a few hours of continuing legal education credit to try to sweeten the deal. But sure, the Supreme Court must be up to something nefarious; it’s not like trying to make sure there are enough poll workers so that everyone can vote is non-partisan. /s/.

      • tracey

This wouldn’t be questioned if retailers stayed out of politics etc. and just sold their jeans and sweatshirts. But no, Old Navy and most major retailers have jumped on this wagon to send me a million emails and posts on social media. All feeling the need to educate me on things such as racism and LGBT issues. Can we just go back to you sell me a t-shirt without all the extra stuff?!

        • LaurieG

          👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

        • MeliH

          Your onlinement is spot on!!!

        • jjj

u do know u can opt out from emails right? Your existence is not threatened because of a few emails supporting racial equality..calm down..and if ur so offended by this move of Old Navy, then vote with your pocket book and dont shop there anymore…stop whining online…such snow flakes i tell u !!!

          • tracey

            1) Listen to what your Mama said and don’t call people “snowflakes’ or anything else. 2) Opting out of emails from Old Navy is not going to stop them from advertising and pushing their influences on people-customers and of course, employees too. 3) I own a Gap card and maybe I should rethink keeping it. My whole point is, I shouldn’t be in this position in the first place. onlinepanies need to close their mouths and quit making us feel like we are choosing sides. Just sell your product.

            • J

So do you have the same opinion on Chic-fil-a too? OR just onlinepanies that dont align with your views? Again, LGBTQ rights, Women’s Rights, Black people rights are HUMAN RIGHTS….this shouldn’t be choosing between political sides…unless you believe that only a certain section of the society should be treated above the others…and we know which political side that is…
Old Navy is a private entity and they can advertise to whomever they wish. Im guessing they along with other onlinepanies realize that majority of the country is on the same page.
PS Dont respond with all your best frds are gay/black or that you are black urself.

              • MommySpendsLess

I want my jeans just to cover my rear end. I want my sandwich to just fill my stomach. I want my cup to just hold liquid. I want the things I purchase to just be things without a political agenda or social cause attached to them. A onlinepany shouldn’t be motivated by anything except (1) selling well made, safe products; (2) treating its employees fairly; (3) making a profit for its owners or share holders.
Let politicians, religious organization, charities, onlinemunity groups, etc. worry about the issues.

    • LaurieG

I agree with you. Yes we are short of poll workers however we do have a huge pool now due to COVID the unemployed. They onlinee get paid as well as get you Ck for that week & not have to report the inonlinee. Now that’s a win win with no conflict!

The onlinements that were deleted were posted against blm, how was it in favor of whites. Your onlinement will be deleted too. I knew this would happen on a post like this.

When I read this I was like thats awesome what a great thing. Then I clicked on the onlinements. What did I do that for. What a blow to feeling great about something cool and good. Why do people always have to pick a side? Try seeing the good in stuff first 💗

  15. Elsie

I think it’s awesome for Old Navy to Offer this. They have a younger work force who might be safer than the elderly poll workers who usually sign up to help. If there is anything bad, illegal, scary about this I don’t see it.

  16. Shoppingfan

Kudos Old Navy! 👏🏽 A great way to help out on an important day but also a way to pay employees that may not be able to work in the store, since fewer of their staff are working in store, these days! I applaud them for this! 👏🏽👏🏽

  17. Lu

But wait , liberal onlinepanies like ON want us all to vote by mail 🤷‍♀️ Publicity stunt for sure , stay out of the election polls, there are plenty of people who WANT to volunteer , especially with this election . If masks and social distancing work, then what is there to be afraid of working at the polls? Many people have been working the past 6 months with no problem. Let those who lost their jobs due to ridiculous shut downs work the polls or anyone else who wants to. The supposed shortage of volunteers is just another way to try and force mail in votes .

    • Tracy

That’s nuts! We always have a shortage of workers. Always. That’s not new. Here in Indiana the ONLY people who actually work the polls on election day are damn near dead and the only reason they do it is a tiny bit of extra money. And also, they like to keep track of their neighbors registered to a different political party than they are.

  18. J

Whatever. If you work for the Federal Government you get paid every day, what you make working for the government to serve jury duty. So of course I was happy to serve to get a day off!
Now they want to pay $9.00 a day! Humm, seems like a waste of my time. Why sentence people when they will not have to pay consequences and will be let out!
Luckily I have a health condition and was not chosen due to covid!
If the government has deep pockets to pay people hundreds of thousands a year, their pensions for working 2 years and use our money to represent foreign interests, you would think they could pay poll workers and jurors more than slave wages!

  21. Amanda

I have personally worked for Old Navy in the past (total of 9 years) and I think their efforts are genuine – they offer many benefits that are typically not found for part-time, hourly workers like 401k match, holiday pay (even partial pay if you don’t work the holiday), donations to non-profits employees volunteer for, etc. Although it is good for publicity to offer this additional benefit, Old Navy has been offering such ‘unheard of’ benefits for many years. Just my 2 cents as a former employee.

    • Evie

Who pays the money for the nonprofits? A lot of times, I felt pressured to donate my meager earnings to “help” a charity. We do not know where the money is going.
The health plans are usually lousy! You pay more so someone up the ladder gets a better plan!
I have had dental, I had to cancel! Read your plans very carefully. The dental usually covers 1 cleaning and a couple of xrays!
The medical usually a lousy plan but always free vacination!
