Plus, you can easily book right online. Choose your featured film from a selection of newly released movies or previously released box office hits. I checked out the theaters in my area and they were offering up some awesome classics I would love to see on a big screen again like Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Note that due to the current events related to COVID-19, Cinemark has greatly enhanced cleanliness, sanitizing and safety measures at every step of your movie-going experience which you can read all about here.

This doesn’t look like it’s available in Los Angeles. Does anyone know which cities are participating?

  2. SarahS

One of our locally owned theaters is doing a similar thing. Auditorium rentals vary between $100-200. They let us choose any movie and give us a $50 concessions gift card. It’s been fun!

I wonder if we could pick older movies! What a great idea

Omg, thank you for sharing!!!! My 6 yo is high risk and I’ve been trying to figure out how to make his birthday in October special. This just may be the ticket!! Looks like you can only book 2 weeks out. They’re playing Sonic at mine right now which would be amazing because he wanted a Sonic birthday party.

What a great idea! That sounds so fun for him.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

How fun! You’re welonlinee, Ashley! Wishing them a very Happy Birthday! 🥳

Right before covid hit my local theater wanted close to $500 for a private showing 🙃

  5. Evie

People pay this, when they can sit up there own studio at home?
People can catch Covid from friends and family members.

I sure would to make my kids birthday special and it would just be the family he lives with attending. We would have spent $99 on a party for him under normal circumstances, so why not? We’ve been setting up movies at home for the last 6 months. Something special for one day sounds great!

I don’t know what kind of home y’all live in, but my TV isn’t that big and the sound isn’t as good (nor is the popcorn). Apples and oranges.

I saw a mini projector on sale Amazon for$63.
AUKING 1080. Promo code 93VXYFN2. Good till 8/30. HDMI, VGA,Roku, Apple Tv etc.
Buy and share with others for parties.

I own a regularly sized projector that I use at Halloween and Christmas. I’ve also bought (and returned) a mini projector. You need a dark/dark space and a nice clean wall or screen. The picture generally is dark, grainy, or fuzzy. The sound from a projector is at best about what onlinees out of your phone. I don’t want to belabor the point, but a $63 projector is not even remotely onlineparable to the quality of a movie theater, which is why people go to the movies.

Normally I don’t consider going to the movies to be worth it but I’ve been working from home since March – at this point I’d spend a $100 just to be in a different building for a couple hours without worrying about masks, social distancing and one way paths.
On top of that it would be a great activity to do with the grandparents and my brother/SIL/niece/nephew, especially since it’s crazy hot and raining every day in Florida right now. And none of us could onlinefortably fit 8 people in their living room for movie watching. My nephew is too young for the theater but if it was just family it wouldn’t be an issue.
As far as catching it from family/friends – yes it’s a possibility but my brother has continued to work in person throughout this and my daughter and niece are both back to face-to-face school. We’ll keep taking reasonable precautions but if we’re willing to take the risk for work/school, why wouldn’t we take a risk for our family?

I got an email for the same promo but from Galaxy Theaters.

I’m in California and currently nothing is available. I would spend $99 for my family of 4 just to go out and have a little fun. We need a change of scenery and I do miss movie popcorn!

I’m in Texas & that was my thought. My bday is Tues & I didn’t plan to celebrate, however this may be a way to include my teens & my parents! Thxs Hip2Save!

Not available in the Seattle area. Thought it would be a fun idea for my son and daughter’s Sweet 16!!

  9. Debby

I’m driving to Las Vegas to go to the movies. California is a sad joke led by an imbecile… I will take my money to another state. CDC admits-to the fake falsified Covid numbers… by the hospitals looking for Federal money. I do not trust the liars in charge. Go about your lives…
