Peaches Recalled Due to Salmonella | Sold at Kroger, Walmart, Target, Costco & More

Check your peaches!

Prima Wawona, a distributor of peaches, has announced that they are recalling bagged Wawona and Wawona Organic peaches sold from June 1st through August 19th due to the possible contamination of Salmonella.

The peaches were distributed and sold throughout the country and should be tossed or returned if you have a bag or box with the following product codes:

Individual peaches will have stickers on them with PLU numbers 4037, 4038, 4044, 4401, 94037, 94038, 94044 or 94401. These peaches were sold nationwide at Costco, ALDI, Food Lion, Hannaford, Target, Kroger, Walmart and Wegmans stores.

I agree with queen62. We have a peach tree, lemon tree, orange tree, apple tree, 2 avocado trees, and a guava tree. We also have a garden with lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro, green onions, thyme, basil, zucchini, pumpkin, watermelon, cucumber, and potatoes. The kids had a say in the fruit trees planted when they were little and I stuck with what I knew they liked. As they have gotten older they have learned how to care for the trees, how to tell when the fruit is ripe, and how to pick the fruit. They also help me tend to the garden. They helped me choose what to plant and how to plant it. Now that my oldest(20) is in his own house we are helping him grow his own fruit trees from seeds. Gardening can help teach kids responsibility.

Did you just buy fruit trees and plant them or did you grow them from seeds as well? I’ve always wanted fruit trees, but I’m not sure if I should start from scratch or just buy a tree. Do your avocado trees produce a lot of avocados?

Glad I only buy Colorado freestone peaches, mainly because they are the only peach that isn’t bad when I cut it open. Those California peaches are nothing but mush whenever I have tried them.

Shop and support your local farm stands. The price may be a little more but the flavor is much better.
