Frozen Shrimp Sold at Costco Recalled Over Salmonella Concerns
There’s another recall in the news!
If you purchased frozen shrimp at Costco, BJ’s, and Tops between late February and mid-May 2020, take note – many varieties are being recalled over concerns of potential Salmonella.
These frozen shrimps were sold in 1lb, 1.5lb., and 2lb. retail bags of a variety of shrimps including pre-cooked, peeled and deveined, and more. Brand names for the recall include Kirkland Signature, Wellsley Farms, Tops, and more.
For details on the specific products being recalled, go to the FDA website.
While no illnesses have been reported, the FDA warns that cross contamination was the likely reason salmonella might be on the shrimp. Kader Exports, the manufacturer of the product, says that the source of the contamination has been removed and that steps have been taken to prevent it in the future.
Consumers who have purchased the above products are encouraged to throw them out or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
