ALDI, Jewel-Osco, & Hy-Vee Stores Recall Bagged Salad
ALDI shoppers, check your fridge for a product recall!
A possible link between a multi-state outbreak of Cyclospora illnesses and bagged garden salads from ALDI, Jewel-Osco, and Hy-Vee has initiated a product recall from all three stores.
The FDA and CDC are reonlinemending that all consumers not eat the possibly-affected salads. All stores have voluntarily recalled their bagged salads and removed the affected products from shelves.
Here’s what to check for:
- ALDI’s affected Little Salad Bar Garden Salads were sold in a 12 oz bag in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Wisconsin stores. They have a UPC code of 4099100082975 and Best By dates of May 1 through June 29.
- Jewel-Osco’s Signature Farm Garden Salads were sold in a 12 oz bag in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa. They have a UPC code of 2113098135 and Best By dates of May 16 through July 4.
- Hy-Vee’s Brand Garden Salad were sold in a 12 oz bag in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. They recalled all UPC codes and expiration dates.
If you purchased from ALDI, they suggest throwing away the affected product immediately.
Jewel-Osco asks you to discard the salads or return them for a refund, or call 1-877-723-3929.
Hy-Vee is also requesting customers who purchased the affected items to discard them or return them to their local store for a full refund, or call 1-800-772-4098.
While the investigation is still ongoing, there have been a total of 76 reports of illness so far. The FDA and CDC stated there may be additional retailers and products affected by this outbreak. You can stay updated here.
