The new Tamagotchi can go outside its house, meet up with friends, celebrate your birthday, and travel to different lands. It can also get married and have children who will later grow into adults and have children of their own.
Even with all the new features, the main parts of the original Tamagotchi version are the same as decades ago – you need to make sure your pet has enough food, happiness, and entertainment levels to keep it alive. When it needs something it beeps – even when the screen is turned off (I remember getting an alert at midnight to feed my pet and as a kid that was pretty awesome!).
