  yes, you can send a “closet clean out box” with your clothes and they will choose the most sellable and list them, giving you a percentage of the profit. I have sent things here as well as swap.online with much less hassle then trying to sell them by myself online at poshmark or ebay or something, but with much less profits;)

   I love ThredUp! I took a look at the Walmart listings because the Walmart partnership will only be listing “new” or “like new” clothing. It looks awesome but I’m finding that for my family’s needs, the clothing found on the classic ThredUp website will be a better fit for us (pun intended). It looks like the clothing available on the Walmart site is really nice and quality but it onlinees with a higher price point in onlineparison with the un-partnered Thredup website. I won’t need “new” or “like new” condition clothes for the kid’s playclothes so I will be sticking to the original website when it onlinees to their needs. However, I am really happy at the growth of secondhand clothing market. This is better for our wallets and more importantly, environmentally friendly.    I sent in 2 full bags of high end clothing from Nordstrom. I understand I wasn’t going to get what I paid for or even close for that matter. I did, however expect them to be somewhat fair. Not the case. They literally stole clothes from me. I am not exaggerating. They kept the entire contents of both bags and listed about 20 items. I got a couple dollars for expensive items that they sold for quite a bit more. That I can live with, what really gets me is they kept clothes and didn’t list them but I know they sold them (one pair of unworn jeans $150.00). Their website discloses that they are able to do that so I’m sure that takes care of the legal aspect of this for them. I just thought they would want customers to trust them and return and not do what I am doing right now, telling you all about my experience.

  YES I agree. So corrupt. I have sent of clothes twice (once several years ago then once recently because it seemed to have been revamped- not so). Both times I literally got mere dollars or less for name brand like new clothing. Lots of it they didn’t even take but you can’t get it back unless you pay a fee (for your own clothing…). Buying on there is ok most of the time. Some prices are too high. Shipping is too much but they will do free shipping or free bundle shipping sometimes. I have only ordered a handful of things and been happy with most of what I received. If you return items they charge you a restocking fee though, which is a rip off. And if you read the fine print they can sell any clothes they don’t sell to third party vendors! So sketchy to me. I LOVE poshmark, however.

  I had a super high end dress stolen from me from them. They didn’t return in my bag I paid for and kept it… never got my dress or $$$

   I have a mixed review about Thredup. I have only ever purchased dresses and have never sold through them, I also shop through their Ebay because it is always free shipping and twice through their app which was easy to navigate.The items have not always been described correctly, on 3 occations I recieved items described as dresses that are not. 1 is a bathing suit, 1 is a shirt and 1 is a beach cover up, I have purchased a total of 8 items. If not shopping a special sale the prices are silly and you can purchase a lot of the daily wear items for less, new.

   I sold a coach outlet bag like new on there and they auctioned it off and sent me $76. I was really busy and needed enough money to buy a new coat (that I would actually use) so for me, selling was a win win, but I can see why some of the selling situations seem sketchy on there too.

   I used to love thredUP, especially when they offer an extra discount off purchase, but with my recent experience, I will probably never order again. I bought several items for my daughter and they were not as described. One item had a small hole and black marks on the front. The other had orange stains, like Cheeto stains. I contacted them through email to return and found out that I was either out shipping cost or I had to take a store credit. Considering it’s an issue on their end, I don’t feel I should have to pay for shipping or just get store credit. I’d have to turn around and pay shipping again if I ordered something of the same value as the return.

    I’m going to try selling some of my new and almost new clothing. I’m used to selling to local places and know you don’t get much, but I’m moving soon and need the stuff gone. Whatever they don’t buy I will just have them “recycle”. Thanks for this, it pushed me to get this started today! I just filled up a huge box.

    Buying from thread up is fine, you can get some good deals. If you send your clothes to thread up, they totally rip you off. Never send pricey items you could sell yourself. I only send things I wouldn’t bother to sell myself. I’ve sent things like new gymboree dresses and coats and received literally pennies for them. Years ago, I would get $20-30 for a bag of good used clothes, now that same bag would receive $2.
