   i won’t be rushing there anytime soon. I’m a big Disney fan, but in my state 150+ people died yesterday from Covid, its too soon.

  I think she was just referencing the OPs onlinement about being a Disney fan…Disney Springs is mostly 3rd party onlinepanies/restaurants. Until the theme parks open up, I don’t think many people aside from locals will be making a special trip just to visit Disney Springs.

   Well, I for one, can’t wait till the parks open. I’ll be first in line. I just watched the latest update on this last night. Disney Springs may be opening but I heard the shops that are opening are not any owned by Disney. At least they’re getting closer to reopening Disney World. The park in Shanghai is supposed to open this month.

  I’m wondering if the parks will be worth the price when they reopen. I watched the onlinemercial for the phased opening of Shanghai Disneyland – between medical clearance, a temperature scanning booth, multiple ID checks, required masks, ground markers everywhere, rides at half capacity and character interaction only from a distance – I can’t imagine having the same carefree, leaving reality behind experience that makes a visit to Disney so magical. I’m not faulting Disney, I imagine they’re doing the best they can under the restrictions set forth, I’d just rather wait a year or two until things have calmed down to spend hundreds on a day at the parks.

   Let’s wait and see what happens our memories fade. I hope I’m wrong, but there’s a great chance its gonna be here a long while. When we get lazy its gonna onlinee back in full force. Stir crazy or not, with the exception of work and a trip to the grocery store here and there, I’m laying low for a long while. It’ll be a back yard summer for me.

   Central Florida resident – restaurants and retail spaces are allowed to open with outdor seating at least 6’ apart and indoor seating/shopping at 25% capacity. Disney is probably leading with Disney Springs because it’s allowed to open that but not yet allowed to open its theme parks.
   Personally, I’m relieved to see things starting to re-open. I respect those that want to continue to distance themselves but I hope there are a lot of people who are low-risk and willing to venture out to restart our economy before it is too deeply damaged.

   Florida should not even be in phase 1 yet…it is stupid. Stay home…Disney isn’t going anywhere.

  Disney directly employs a large number of people in the Central Florida area who are currently unemployed. When you factor in all the resorts, restaurants, stores and smaller entertainment venues that depend on Disney to bring in tourists, our local economy cannot begin to rebound until the parks re-open. And I suspect Universal, Sea World and Legoland are all waiting for Disney to lead the charge. You also have to consider the ripple effects to industries like real estate and construction.
  Disney may have deep pockets but their parks, hotels and major shopping venues are closed world-wide and they’re still incurring maintenance costs while those facilities aren’t bringing in any revenue. Even once the have their first limited opening it will still be weeks or months before they’re operating near full capacity. How long do you think Disney will be able to avoid not “going anywhere” while they’re shut down?

  Honestly, I can care less about the economy and Disney’s pockets. My husband is a first responder and extremely high risk. The more openings and people venturing out the more risk to him and other healthcare workers and their families. I don’t want to see my husband die because people needed to see Mickey Mouse. Collect unemployment and be patient.

  I think saying “it is stupid”, “people needed to see Mickey Mouse” or “collect unemployment and be patient” are over simplifications of a onlineplex situation but thank you for the reminder that everyone has their own perspective and priorities. I hope your husband (and others) stay healthy.
