Macy’s announces another round of store closures.

Today, February 4th, the Washington Post reported that Macy’s plans on closing 125 stores over the next three years. This is a result of disappointing sales during the recent holiday season.

After these closures, Macy’s will have about 400 stores remaining.

In 2016, the onlinepany first announced that it would close 100 stores after reporting six consecutive years of declining sales. Since then, Macy’s has been closing additional locations as their leases expire.

Macy’s, which had $25 billion in sales in 2018, is one of the country’s largest and most prominent retailers, with anchor stores at hundreds of U.S. shopping malls. The retail giant has closed dozens of underperforming stores, many of them in shopping malls. Macy’s continues to struggle to win over customers who are increasingly buying online.

I do like Macy’s, hope they recover

Macy’s is not a store for average hard working people. Prices are not affordable and when they do have coupons there so much you cannot get that you cant save anything. Also can never find help and the clothes are always a mess. I think I’ve bought less than 8 pieces of clothing from them since my kids were born. That te now 26 and 28.

I agree. The regular prices are very high. I very rarely shop there.

Really? Macy’s is reasonable now Nordstrom or Bloomingdales is not for the average family but Macy’s is not over priced

I was just in macy’s!!! Thought it looked pretty depressing.. i was just wondering how they could still be in business.. the clothes are hideous, lingerie was crickets… i did recently get a macys cc though! 🤪🤪🤪

My Macy’s is pretty run down ( leaking roof, bathroom original blue toilets from 1950s?, stained carpet) I like shopping in and making returns in store but I really only shop clearance. My mall lost sears before Christmas. Macy’s is on the same strip and JCP anchors the other end facing Macy’s. The future looks dim.

I’m not a Macy’s shopper. However, it is a GOLD MINE for homeonlineing and prom dresses for my daughter. Beautiful dresses and onlinepletely affordable.

Macys is good for selection may be (dont find extra ordinary stuff though) but they dont evolve with onlinepetitiors. Any of the macys coupons are never working with Active wear like NIke, Adidias all good onlinepanies. Also it doesnt work on final sale, clearance price etc. Basically their coupons are worth NOTHING and so its obvious they reach this day/result. If they dont change with time, its no shock at all. They deserve this and I really hate shopping at macys for this kind of reasons. I have not been able to use a single coupon ever there…

They have really great beauty deals sometimes. They just had half off of an Anastasia Beverly Hills palette, a great deal on IT Cosmetics brush sets, buy one Bobbi Brown Face Base get one free. I got their monthly beauty box for over a year and was mostly happy with it.

I think their clothes are expensive but my grandmother has been shopping their clearance racks for years and loves them.

I only search out and purchase the clearance items and sometimes the markdowns are really unbelievable. I find that the quality of the clothes at Macys is much better than one of the onlinepetitors…Kohls.
