You don’t get to choose your cabin if you book the Pack & Go rate. It is guarantee rate. Carnival assigns a cabin. You could end up in a really crappy location.

Thanks for letting us know, Sara!

We’ve never been on a cruise so I’ve been looking. Would you all reonlinemend booking through a travel agent or the cruise directly?

    • Crystal

I called the carnival cruise itself and they were wonderful each time, gave us better rates than what was posted and upgraded us for free.

Thanks so much! This is helpful

A travel agent(TA) or online travel agent(OTA) might include extra onboard credit, wine, Costco Cash Card(if through Costco), etc, but you lose control of your booking. The TA/OTA owns the booking. All booking changes have to be done by the TA/OTA. Carnival won’t even talk to you if your booking was made through a TA/OTA. Pretty much the only thing they will do is confirm that the booking exists.

I think you can still book excursions, specialty dining reservations, and purchase alcohol, food, and gifts for your cabin since you can still add the booking to your Carnival online account.

By the way, the travel agent/OTA isn’t giving those extras out of the goodness of their hearts. It onlinees out of their onlinemission.

If you get a TA, make sure the person has actually taken a cruise before. A TA that hasn’t cruised is likely only interested in the onlinemission.

There are financial benefits to booking through a TA/OTA, but I value not having to depend on someone else more than money.

My wife is a TA and charges ZERO fees. Most times, she can get rates lower than you can online.

I’ve been looking for a while now for something around May 30th though the beginning of August for a 9 night cruise and they are all the same prices as before so this can’t be a deal if the price has not changed 🙄
