I did this deal at the beginning of the week! 🙂 Kroger had Kellogg’s cereals as part of the last Mega Event. After coupons and ibotta offers I paid about $9 for 10 boxes of cereal.

I noticed the promo on the back of the boxes so I made sure to buy 10 of the ones participating. Submitted my receipt, received my book credits in less than 2 hrs, ordered our books the same day and they arrived this morning! 🙂 I was shocked at how fast and easy the process was! We were also surprised that there was quite a selection for preteen/teen readers…not just little kids. My kids spent the rest of the day with their noses buried in their new books! 🙂

    • Melissa Rice

Cathy can you please suggest what books you selected for teens/ preteens? I have a pre teen boy.
      Thanks!

      • Cathy

Hi Melissa! We got the Alchemyst, Enrique’s Journey and 3 books from the Mr Lemoncello’s Library series. They have a Teen/tween, a Middle Reader and a Beginner Reader section. There are some good ones available in the Teen/Tween section but some others of those are still a little old for my kids. We also got two Lucy & Andy Neanderthal books for my 7 year old – which my 10 year old still enjoys even though they are a little on the young side. They also had some biographies for kids…which I thought would be good but my kids chose other books instead. Hope that helps!

Submitted 6 receipts for the free book program. I received three books but I did not receive credit for the last three. Please advise

    • Gail

I submitted my receipt showing the purchase of two qualifying boxes of cereal. I only got one credit rather than two. Who do I contact to get this corrected?

      • Gail

Who to contact to correct my receipt.

        • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

          You can call 1-800-962-1413!

          • Gail

Thanks so much, Jennifer. I bought two boxes of cereal on one receipt and they only gave me one point credit. I’ll call today.

  2. *Angela-Miles*

We did this last year. Great deal and the books were nice.

  3. Karis

Giant Eagle has them on sale this week too! Buy 5 participating boxes and they’re $1.50 each. I paired the sale with the $3/5 coupon yesterday and got 5 boxes for $4.50. Just a heads up for anyone with a Giant Eagle nearby 🙂

    • 5pink1blue

Yes! I bought some too yesterday at Giant Eagle.

  4. Sarah Strom

The books aren’t scholastic this year. FYI. It’s another publisher I think.

    • Chelsey (Hip Sidekick)

You are absolutely right Sarah! Thank you so much for pointing that out, I’m updating the post now!

  5. Amanda

I submitted my receipt and within a week, had my books! The Llama book I received was a hard back, so nice!!

    • Amanda

That’s so fast!! Did they onlinee one book at a time shipped or all of them together? Just curious. I ordered my books a few days ago. I thought it took like 8 weeks to receive. I hope mine arrive that fast and right before school starts. Thanks! I also ordered the llama llama books too for my little boy arriving in the fall. Great to hear you liked it!

      • Cathy

Hi Amanda – Our books each came individually in a cardboard envelope. We ordered 10 earlier this week – 9 came yesterday. I figure the last one will probably arrive today. 🙂

        • Amanda

Thanks!! Can’t wait! I’m over in CA so hopefully I’ll receive them as fast as you.

  6. Nikki

LOVE THIS! Did it last year and my kids loved all the books. Ordered 5 so far this year and they’re really excited for them to onlinee. Such a great promotion!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      Yay! That sounds awesome, Nikki!

  7. lanamamma

I’m so going to do this! What a great idea! Anyone have suggestions for choice of books for my 6 year old daughter beginning reader?

    • Dn

Id suggest the junie b Jones books they are longer on the writing chapter book like but they are for that age group. My little sister loved them at that age. Just a warning the girl speaks just like a small child bad grammar and all. Never did like that about the books. So be warned. Otherwise the berestain bears are good for that age or the paw patrol books.

  8. Renee

Sent receipt for 2 Eggs frozen waffle boxes for points and for books separately and got both. To my surprise, Llama, llama and Very Hungry Caterpillar books, both are hard books in very good quality. Perfect for baby shower or as part of baby gifts.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I love that you got hardcover books, Renee!

  9. Kelly

Hi. Did anyone notice contact info for customer service for this promotion? I bought 5 boxes of cereal today that has the promotion listed on each box. I uploaded my receipt and it was rejected – twice. Thanks!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Darn! I did find this general Kellogg’s customer service number – 1-800-962-1413. Hope that helps!

Does anyone know which picture books are hard cover vs board? Interested so that I make the right selections. Currently looking at duck & goose, Eric carle, lama lama, and I am… series.

    • jennifer

I have a 3.5 year old & a 3 month old. I have ordered 6 board books so far: “Duck, Duck Goose,” “Llama Llama Nighty Night,” “Llama Llama Zippity Zoom,” “Llama Llama Hoppity Hop,” “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” and “All About the Very Hungry Caterpillar.” Only “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and “Duck, Duck Goose” are for the 3 year old. The “Llama Llama” books that I ordered are kind of young for the 3 year old, but will be perfect for my new little one, and perfect for her to “read” to the little one. And, “All About the Very Hungry Caterpiller” has the same exact illustrations, except there is no story– just pictures and “vocabulary” words from the story. I plan to use it as a onlinepanion book to the actual storybook. Plus my three year old can “read” it to her sister.

There’s also “Pat the Bunny” and “Llama Llama Sand and Sun” which are touch & feel board books that seem geared toward the younger babies also. I just saw those were added today so I’ll be ordering those next for the new little one.

Does anyone know whether “Corduroy” is a Hardcover, paperback, or board book? What about “Llama Llama Red Pajama?”
