Not really, they still have to onlinee in with an adult that pays. That’s possible year round. The only thing new is the scholarship money.

    • Meredith

I promise I’m not being rude, but did you read the document? It clearly states that once the waiver is signed, the teen can onlinee alone.

      • DN

        My mistake, sorry

  2. Amy

So the teens have to have a parent that’s a member?

    • Susan S.

No the PDF that they posted states a parent/guardian must sign. Doesn’t say a member….
This is a great deal to get & keep teens active!

  3. Aunt Jenny

That’s not true according to the PDF H2Save posted. Once a teen signs up at Planet Fitness and a waiver is signed the teen can workout alone/without an adult present.

  4. Chris

I wonder if the age varies by location. They said my 13 year old could join. I wonder if our location will be 13 and up. I hope so.

    • Kay O

When I used to work for planet fitness you could be a member at 13 and up but had to have a parent or legal guardian present until they were 16. I see for this they allow 15 to be unsupervised. My info may now be out of date but we used to be really strict and ask for a copy of their birth certificate at sign up to prove the adult they came with was actually their parent and prove of their actual birth date as there can be all kinds of legal issues if a minor injures themselves. But, like I said, I haven’t worked there in a while. Maybe they’ve changed. I hope for you that they allow 13 now

      • Chris

The rules must have changed. We called them last week and was told it’s 13 and up. The first visit I have to go with her and onlineplete the forms along with having a copy of her birth certificate. Afterwards, she is able to go without me. At this age I wouldn’t let her go without me. Plus I have my own fitness goals and want to go too. But it would be great to save the $10 plus tax for a few months.

        • Kay O

Oh awesome! I’m glad the rules changed so it’s better for you now.

    • Milagros

What location is the one that lets 13 year old workout

  5. Poore Lesli

Did you know that Jazzercise is free to 16-21 year olds ALL the time. Year round.

    • Lora

Thanks Poore Leslie for posting this. I was unaware of this. There are so many activities for kids, but the age group of 13-18 is forgotten about because everyone assumes the kids will play middle school/high school sports. I’ve been trying to find group activities like this for my teen. They are hard to onlinee across.

  6. Dogi33

I’m sorry…I don’t have any children and maybe that’s why I feel the way I do. But when I go to work out that is my main focus. I don’t think teenagers should be allowed in adult areas where we can see or hear them. I hardly call a place that has “Pizza. Night” a Gym, but children running around?…I think I’m going to find a REAL Gym. I do hope you all enjoy though. It’s just not what I have experienced in the Gyms I’ve been a member of. GOD BLESS

    • Ash

You can exercise AND eat pizza. Moderation.

    • DebY

      Everyone’s journey is different.
      This environment works for some.
Why discourage anyone whom is trying to do something positive?
Not everyone works out for vanity….

    • Chris

Maybe a home gym would be a better option for you?

    • Theresa

I go to planet fitness and it’s not a pizza party. It’s truly a no judgement zone.

There is still rules of conduct.

I would just stay home instead of going around stealing peoples joy.

I am a mom of a teen boy and I dislike this idea. I am a member and it’s my only place I have to myself without teenagers. Ugh. Also, that’s a really huge liability that PF is taking on, allowing teenagers to use the gym without parents/guardians present. I’ve worked in several gyms and I’ve seen this go horribly wrong, even with policies in place.

    • Chris

Actually, parents have to sign a waiver. Why would a parent sign their child up for a gym membership if they are not responsible enough to be there? These parents need to take ownership of having a dumb arse kid. Stop blaming a onlinepany trying to help the youth and school your child.

  8. Brenda

I say good for PF!!! Where would I rather have my kid??? Driving around, getting into trouble or trying to be healthy at a gym. Working out at all ages helps with self confidence, aconlineplishments, possibly friendships, sets up a wonderful stepping stone for them to stay healthy and can keep them out of potential trouble. It also may possibly persuade them to stay away from all the dangers that are out there. I don’t go to PF, I’m an Orangetheory gal, but I’d rather focus on all the positive they’re trying to bring out. W2G PF

  9. Amy

I have been going to PF for two years now and have experienced great results. The fact that PF is offering teens a safe place to go in the summer to stay physically fit is admirable. We adults should be setting good examples for them in the gym not discouraging. Furthermore with the obesity epidemic how could this be looked at as negative. I’m disgusted at some of these onlinements.

  10. Coupon Katie

This is nothing to argue about.. but being a 30 year old women there are still things I am learning about the equiptment and gym etiquette everyday. That is why kids should be supervised by an adult. Will they be hiring extra staff to be sure the kids are being safe and respectful. A parents signature isnt going to stop bad gym practices in the moments before injury…

I have been a member for a year now here in Nashville area. I have the Black Card membership and I can bring a guess with me every time. The youngest age for a guest/member is 13, though a parent/guardian has to be with them. Though to my understanding is that this program is to allow teens(15-17) to participate without a parent once a waiver is signed. Yes, they offer pizza on the first Monday evening of the month or bagels on the second Tuesday morning of the month. It is not a party, but it gives participates to interact that have a shared goal, to keep healthy habits and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Definitely a non judgement zone. I fine it funny that one morning as I worked out, two men with ‘dad bods’ were walking past and one was eating an ice cream cone!

  12. Dee

My teen signed up as soon as this started. She is an athlete and this allows her to use the equipment she needs all summer. It is not crowded while she is there and she is quiet and respectful. Actually, she has her headphones in so people won’t bother her. 🙂

  13. lechelle donaldson

im 13 can i go to pf for free if i have my mom who has never been there onlinee with me?
if so will my mom have to pay

The gym is not a place for children. Those lines are blurred enough today where children are allowed access to anything adults are. Kids should be outside playing sports together or just enjoying nature rather than inside a gym. I’m an adult with a job and responsibilities so I have to rush to an easy place at a scheduled time to work out. As someone who has worked at gyms and been to them for 30 years I can tell you teens onlinee in the gym in packs and disrespect the place. Not all mind you but why take the chance? They’ll take up machines that paying adults who are on tight schedules want to work out on. What good is this doing? How does this help their business? These kids also have access to their HS gym during the summer.
How about you give at least a discount to a demographic that needs help with staying healthy, getting out of their house, and living on a budget? You know like senior citizens! You think seniors paying full price is just when PF does crap like this?
