Totally worth seeing imho. Went last year on our way to drop our daughter off at UD.

How neat! I’d love to go and see it too! Thanks for sharing with us!

I just tried to see what dates were available within the next couple of months at the boarding house and it looks like it’s fully booked all the way until 2020. Is that correct?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh bummer! Thanks for pointing that out, Mary! We have added a note to the post!

Check daily during the month you want to stay and even the month before. Cancellations happen often but you will have to be quick to book. Cancellations that onlinee up will most likely be rebooked by the same day. You’re more likely to be able to reserve a one nights stay but every so often someone will have canceled a multiple nights stay.
The Merchantile is closed on Sunday’s. But if you are staying at the Boarding House you can order room service. The prices are reasonable on both the food (huge portions) and merchandise. If your lucky, you may see Ree at The Merchantile checking on things and visiting with customers.
The rooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors. There isn’t elevator and the stairs are steep so take that into consideration. They really pamper their guests. They will call you prior to your stay and ask what kind of onlineplimentary cupcakes you’d like to be in your room. They also have other snacks and water that is onlineplimentary.
Downtown Pawhuska is a quaint town with lots of old brick buildings and unique architecture. Take time to drive or walk around. The Boarding House is simply beautiful cowboy luxury at its finest. The drive to The Lodge is a little adventure on its country roads but the views are spectacular! Rolling prairie as far as the eye can see as well as their cattle that will even walk up to the fence. It’s all definitely are worth seeing!!! The also let their dogs roam free at and will onlinee right up to you in hopes of some attention.
Add Bartlesville to your list as it’s only 30 minutes east of Pawhuska. There is a hotel there that Frank Lloyd Wright designed, The Phillips Mansion (Phillips 66 family) and the Woolaroc Museum & Wildlife Preserve where you can see Bison roam.
