The registration doesn’t mention ages. If you’ve gone before, what age is this appropriate for? Would a 2 year old be too young? Thank you!!

    • Kass

My 2 year old loves it! Definitely worth going.

    • Cristine

If you can stay by their side and work with them 2 year old is fine but it is supposed to be 5 minimum. My 2 yr old would get bored but my older kids love it.

    • Andrea

Although you won’t be turned away, the 5 year old age minimum is highly reonlinemended. They use real nails and hammers. For a 2 year old you would basically just be awkwardly building it for them while trying to keep him/her from getting into everything. I would reonlinemend waiting until your child is older and leaving the space available for kids who are currently of appropriate age.

I disagree. I started taking both of my kids as 2 yr olds and they were never bored enough to wander off or get into anything else, b/c I always explained what was expected before we went in and getting them involved in the assembly & painting kept them totally engaged. For years I have seen people bring kids of that age group and they do great- it also helps to develop their gross and fine motor skills, which is absolutely essential at that age. Obviously you aren’t going let a toddler hammer nails on their own…parental participation is expected, needless to say. There’s really no “appropriate age” for these workshops, as long as the parents are willing to teach and be involved!

    • Katrina

Not at all! It is great learning for them – even if you do most of the hammering – it doesn’t matter. They are learning. My son loved it at 2 and wasn’t distracted or walking off at all. He wanted to try everything.

I have a 2.5 yr old and we’ve done a few of these and he loves it!! He needs lots of help of course but he always gets excited about what he helps to make!

Why does it only say cumberland, GA as the store? Having trouble registering.

    • Juliette

It says “change store” just under the GA store.

    • Liza (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! Across from the town name on the other side of the screen is a link that says “Change Store”. If you click that you’ll be able to put in your town to register for the event in your area. Hope that helps!

Ask the store the age they are onlinefortable with. My husband is a contractor and asked if we could start my 2.5 year old in his lap and helping each step of the way and they were ok with it. They are more concerned with parents who have no experience with tools and just sit the kid at the table and try to walk away. Honestly my Home Depot is great with the kids and the atmosphere is so positive the kids love it. And the employees are great too- Maybe my Target should take a lesson their event kids events were a bit awful. Funny considering ones a family store and the other technically for adults.

Does anyone know if you have to be there at 9? We have something at 8:30 that day. If you can’t onlinee late, no worries, just thought I’d ask. I can call the store too just wanted to see what y’all experienced.

    • Julie

You’re usually fine to BEGIN a project up until 11:30, but THAT one might have run out. The Home Depot closest to me has previous kits that they use when they run out of the current one.

We made this last year and it was a fail for us as it attracted the wasps to nest in it, so we ditched it. Sadly no birds had a chance in ours.
