I was just at Aldi and the spiral sliced hams were .95 a lb. plus $5 off each taken off at the register. That would make each spiral sliced ham about $5 each or less after the extra $5 off. Pretty good deal if only I had room in my freezer…

I purchased Appleton Farms Ham “Spiral Sliced Hickory Smoked Honey Ham with Natural Juices, Includes Glaze Packet, Fully cooked” from Aldi, San Diego CA, printed on it Sell by Jan 01 2020, S 0001922451 24 EST 382F -The packages stated: contains 2% or less of salt… This Ham was so so so Salty I don’t think I have stated this enough. From the oldest to the youngest in the family couldn’t stand the salty taste. I was so sad that we couldn’t eat the Thanksgiving dinner. If you are a cook and you are holding a Thanksgiving dinner you would understand how everyone felt when they couldn’t swallow the piece of Ham. Very Disappointing! No exaggeration, I am so upset that it turns out the way it was.

I bought two hams at Aldi, both Appleton. Froze one and cooked the other. It was one of the worse hams I have ever had. Tough and not much flavor. I cooked the frozen one also and it was the same, tough, just like from an old boar. I will never buy another Appleton ham – I guess you get what you pay for.

We’ve enjoyed four aldi Appleton Farms spiral-sliced hams over the past year since we moved near Aldi stores. They ALL have been the best hams this 76-year-old ham lover has ever tasted. Subjectively, they taste like they may have about half of the salt of other hams, which means the drippings make fabulous gravy – unlike gravy made from other name-brand hams that winds up far too salty. They are less fatty than many hams, so that there is very little waste. My ONLY onlineplaint is that they aren’t available year-round. We have very limited freezer space (only 5 cu.ft.), so I have ordered a larger 9 cu.ft. chest freezer that will let us stock up on these wonderful hams that I will then enjoy year-round. They could not be better!

Great price on the ham – nice looking and lean. But – waaaay to salty.
