Now through December 12th, 2018, Burger King is doing a “Whopper Detour” and offering up a 1¢ Whopper sandwich whenever you order with the Burger King App “at” McDonald’s! Even sweeter, NO purchase is required to score this deal, which means you can practically score an almost free burger!

Our deal tester, Stetson, actually tested out the entire process at McDonald’s and then at Burger King, and it works! Talk about a Golden (Arches) Whopperunity! 🍔 Watch Stetson’s deal testing experience here!

Burger King Whopper Challenge

Here’s what you’ll need to do:
  1. Download the Burger King app.
  2. Drive to your local McDonald’s (must be within 600 feet).
  3. Open the app and order a Whopper sandwich for just a penny
    • Your order must be placed within one hour of unlocking the offer and picked up within one hour of placing the order.
  4. Pick up your sandwich at the nearest Burger King restaurant!

Note that your location services permission must be enabled in the Burger King mobile app to determine your proximity to a McDonald’s location and unlock the offer (must be within at least a 600′ distance).

    Yes you have to have the app, be atleast 600 ft from McDonald’s to unlock the coupon then you can use coupon to order online

    They want to detour you from buying at McDonalds. So, while in the McDonalds parking lot place your order through the Burger King app and then drive to Burger King and pick up your order for a penny.

    If you don’t want to go to a McDonald’s you can download a free GPS spoofing app to unlock the BK coupon. I’m sad that I don’t have a BK that does mobile ordering. 🙁

    We drove by the drive thru at McDonald’s and it unlocked the offer. Our BK does not have mobile order, the manager honored it in the store.

    That’s great for me because, my local Burger King is across the street from the McDonalds. It is so close, I most likely can order my $0.01 whopper within the Burger King.

    So funny! We have a McDonald’s right next door to a Burger King just a couple of minutes from my house. I might have to try this out! A penny hamburger plus their 10 chicken nuggets for $1 deal will make a super cheap lunch for me and my toddler!

    I’m in a McDonald’s parking lot with a Burger King right down the street the app keeps telling me that it can’t determine my location I’ve always had problems with the Burger King at it never works correctly. it’s so annoying

    Soo i would have to drive 20 miles to mcdonalds and then 15 miles back in the other direction to burger king to do this…. ? I am very confused.. yeesh..

        She’s saying she lives 20 miles from McDonalds and would have to drive there (within 600 ft), and then drive another 15 miles to actually get the Whoper at BK, since that is 15 miles from her Mcdonalds. It has nothing to do with the 600 feet…perhaps you should Reread!?!?!

      thats terrible luck! I have over 22 BKs within 10 miles ( possibly more the list on maps goes to 22) and each one is wither directly next door or within a block of a McDonalds.

    Thank you! This is hilarious but such an amazing deal. We did this tonight on 3 different phones. 1 burger was ordered without mayo and they put mayo on it, but they fixed it and insisted on us keeping the other one because it’s against their policy to accept it back, so we ended up paying $0.03 for a total of 4 whoppers!

    I love this offer. As a kid, I loved McDonald’s burger but as an adult, I find Burger King burgers more satisfying. Awesome deal. It’d go nicely with the $1 on any size of Wendy’s french fries deal.

    Go through the McDonalds drive thru and order your drinks there since they are only $1, use the McDonalds app to get a $1 medium fry, and while you’re waiting do your order on the BK app to get your penny whopper. 🙌

    I consider myself to be very “technology challenged”…….and I was able to do this deal with zero issues.

    1) Use BK app to make sure you are by a BK that has mobile ordering available. If not you can’t do this deal.
    2) If you haven’t ordered via app before…. set up your account with a credit card etc before you try to get the deal.
    3) I did NOT have to pull into mcdonalds–I was able to drive past it and unlock the coupon
    4) You have an hour to pick up your whopper

    I tested this twice. It works if the BK is in close proximity to the McDonald’s. (Tried it the first time; the McDonald’s was about 2 1/2 miles from the BK. It didn’t work. But the Manager was so nice and gave me a free Whopper, anyway!)

    This is such a lame offer. If the BK nearest to you doesn’t have mobile ordering, you can’t get your whopper. The app won’t tell you where the nearest one is that takes online orders and if you try to search for them, you can’t find a list.
