Maybe because you have spoiled me with the best deals all year, but I shopped black friday yesterday and will never again. My last stop was JCP. The $10 off $10 mailer I had wouldn’t work anything. Same thing with the Kohl’s $10 mailer. If they want customers to shop in the stores, they need to stop with all the exclusions! Ok, rant over lol. Thanks for all you do!

    • JA

I was going to say that last year we got two of these (they gave one to my teen) and had a hard time spending it. Bought a pair of their jeans and they ripped in a few months. Can’t remember what we used the other one on-if we even did….

    • S

Hmmm that’s odd- I think jcp outlines their exclusions pretty well (and have a lot fewer than other department stores- when younkers was open you could use their coupons on maybe 5-10% of what they carried in the entire store- if not less than 1% lol, the list of inclusions would’ve been much shorter) – aside from bigger brands like Nike and their new “every day value” stuff, you can use it on any clothing- like 80-90% of what they carry as well as fine jewelry, accessories, home, etc… I was able to pick up a cute shirt and sunglasses- both on clearance for less than $1 after the coupon yesterday! Today I scored a door buster pair of pants for $4 after sale and coupon! My friend scored a bunch of door busters with her coupons as well- I always find it useful to ask the employees for help if I can’t figure out what’s included or excluded… at kohls I used the $10 off mailer + 15% on the personal mixer door buster- after the mail in rebate it should be a moneymaker ! Some of the exclusions are due to agreements they have with the brands- eg Nike, adidas, levi, Michael kors, etc…

    • bummie62

We always get these and have used them for jewelry, towels, cookware, clearance clothing and more.

  2. Tina9222

Thanks! Even though I have to work on Saturdays I text EVERYONE!!!
Why not let others enjoy all the great discounts! Happy Holidays 🎅🏽

  3. Isra

Just came back from there! Maybe I’m the oddball but I love these coupons. Used it buy the cooks electric kettle bf sale $21.99 – $10 – $14 rebate, $3 mm! Last time I got a rice cooker free using this coupon. I appreciate that stores even giveaway credit like this. It makes a difference to those who really need it. Thank you!

    • Dayna

      I thought it excluded appliances?

      • Isra

They took it no problem and it scanned fine.

    • Sravz

While billing they told if we use the $10coupon we won’t get the mail in rebate. Is that true?

      • Daniela

Yes, it is. If you use the coupon, you won’t get the rebate.

        • Isra

Interesting. I’ve gotten the past rebates fine.

      • Isra

Just wanted to update, I did receive the rebate today in full. Rebates dont go through billing so not sure they have the most current info.

We almost always spend them on clothes for our toddler and never have issues. On Thanksgiving, I used it on a red tablecloth and a pillow that were on sale. My husband and I were just talking about how much we love JCP’s coupons bc they arent like Carsons/Bergners old coupon hoax. lol

  5. marie

My JCP said you couldn’t use it on much of anything but clothes.

  6. Kristie

Yeah…I received one of these Thursday, found some stuff that should have worked…how the heck am I supposed to know what an everyday value is when it is just in an unmarked bin …waited over 2 hours in line to check out. I even missed the Kohl’s and Macy’s openings. When I finally got to the register they mater of factly told me the coupon wouldn’t work. I told them I had been in line 2 hours but they had no sympathy. So I said I didn’t want the items and to keep my coupon for someone who would use it. As I started to walk away they called after me “don’t you want your coupon?” I looked straight at the cashier and said no, I don’t think I want to shop here anymore, and I ment that. I have to wonder how many other people suffered the same fate, and how many of them just paid for their stuff out of embarrassment? My Kohl’s coupon didn’t want to work but they fiddled with it until it worked. I waited about an hour in their line, but I am ok with that because They honored their coupon. Honestly my best shopping experience this year was, and you are not going to believe me because of their reputation, Wal-Mart. It was crowded but not insane, they had plenty of everything I was looking for and at about an hour after they opened the checkout line took less than 5 minutes. If Wal-Mart, the home of the most questionable customer service can do it why can’t JC Penney? I won’t shop there anymore, I unsubscribed from their texts. I’m done.

    • reply

Kohls wouldn’t honor my coupon after waiting a half hour in line.. and it is quite annoying that they list certain brands as “exclusions” and then the rest you have to click through their website to find.

Jcpenney had much shorter lines at my store.. I can’t imagine a 2 hour line. Ours was about 30 mins but like 30 minutes after opening so that was the most crowded time.

  7. Carissa - All Day Mom

I love freebies even with the exclusions! If you can’t think of anything just buy a Christmas ornament. For Kohl’s freebies I buy clothes for my kids and to get to the full $10 added on a $3 Big One bed pillow I would have bought this week anyway. The $5 freebies work for slipper socks, undies, etc.
Penney’s often has clearance clothing right on the shelves but is not good about keeping up with ticketing new markdowns so I grab more stuff than adds up to $10 so I don’t have to stand in line twice if I don’t hit $10–the last $10 deal I got 2 Ana tops and 2 pairs of Liz Claiborne earrings free.

  8. misti

Does anyone know what time they open. Is it normal store hours?

    • hrosana

I am in Arizona and will open at 8 am

      • misti

Thank you. I did look it up which I should have just done rather then posting a onlinement to ask. LOL Happy Holidays. 🙂

  9. frustrated

Wish you published that the store hours were earlier than normal..

    • AP

The first thing I did was go to JCPenney‘s website and find the hours for my local store. Take some personal responsibility. Happy holidays!

      • frustrated

As a regular shopper I knew the normal hours, and there was no indication that the hours had been changed.. just stating I wish they included this as they have in the past.

        • AP

Always check the hours of any store during the holidays. A lot of times they open early and close late during the holiday shopping season. Just a tip to save you some trouble next time.

        • Kristy

You’re frustrated because they didn’t post the stores open early? Bhahah. I’m sorry that’s super funny. You’re welonlinee for the heads up on the coupon.

    • S

Ours kept their regular hours today- they opened at 10 am and we stopped by at 1030 and got a coupon… I think it’s up to the managers

  10. AP

I got a shag throw for the end of my bed. Retail $42, on sale for $20, got it for $10. I rolled over in bed this morning, checked H2S, and ran the the store. Headed back home to shower now. Lol!!!!!Thank you!!!!!!!!

  11. Lorrie

I just found out that you can use the coupons on the products sold in the salon, which are already half off!

  12. Jennifer

Thanks! I just bought a pair of cute slipper boots and a sugar skull bowl for my mom. 😉

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welonlinee! 🙂

  13. Megan

I love these coupons!! I use them on PJ pants or leggings for my kids. If I can’t find anything worth while I use them on high end towels! Can always use some nice towels!

  14. Amy

I stood in a very long line TWICE trying to use the coupon. It wasn’t good on clothes, toys or gift sets. I left the coupon at the register and asked the cashier to let someone else use it. Not worth my time. 🙁

  15. Sara

Are clothes and toys excluded from the coupon now or is it clearance clothes and toys? Last year I purchased jeans for my daughter without any issues.

  16. Cindy

I don’t understand all the problems. I have never had a problem using mine. And I don’t stand in long lines. I get my coupon and onlinee back later when they are not as busy.

  17. Julie

A few years ago I was buying a frame at JCP and while waiting in line started messing with the sale sticker on it. Turned out it had actually been cheaper, then marked up to put on sale. I hardly go there now unless I have to. I know other stores have been rumored to do this too, but this is one I caught doing it myself.

    • fran

That was probably when they switched from no coupons back to coupons. They had to naturally mark everything up so they could put it on sale and give the customer a coupon so the customers thought they were getting a better deal when in reality it was the same deal.

  18. Katie

I found a darling red tassel necklace for $9.99 yesterday. Grabbed some gloves on sale for $1.99 to get me over $10. Waited in line to find out that the gloves weren’t included. Luckily a manager walked past and said just make it work for her since she stood in line so long. I was very grateful.

  19. Suzanne

Thanks for the heads up on the coupon; we had to ask several employees before we found one with the coupon. I got pajamas for $9.99, and my friend got earrings for 54 cents.

  20. Me

I’m like some of you guys that posted….some days I can deal with the hassle of this item or that item is not included. Some days I just can’t deal. Today I’m also going to skip it. But to the person that posted about just buying an ornament, at JCP, the ornaments didn’t count. Had to deal with a very disappointed child on that one. Just the towels, etc. counted. Happy treasure hunting to you all!

  21. Jen

Thank you for posting! Was able to use the coupon on cute hat/mitten sets.

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re so welonlinee!

  22. Catherine D

I went to mine and asked an associate about it but she said our location didn’t have their coupons shipped but were supposed to. 🙁

  23. Beth

Thank you so much for posting this. My daughter is turning 10 and so I’m starting to teach her about couponing and deals. We were heading to town anyways. They gave her her own $10 off $10 coupon and she spent a good half an hour deciding the perfect thing to spend it on. It gave me so much joy seeing her excitement at buying $11 worth of stuff for $1 after her coupon! Thanks again!

    • Gramk

Beth, I love your post! Teaching your daughter at such a young age is AWESOME! My granddaughter is 7 and I can’t wait to start teaching her the great value of coupons! Merry Christmas to you and your daughter!

  24. Haley

I buy the store brand quick-dry towels with these coupons. I’m slowly replacing my towels. Today I bought four towels and two washcloths for 6 bucks! ( two transactions, two towels and washcloth per transaction, hubby got coupon too)

  25. Jane

Today a clerk told me the coupons were not good on “black tag” items. I tried to buy undies, which had a non black tag price of $2.99 each on the sign but my actual tag on the undies was $3. (Male) clerk rang up 4 pairs, which should have been close to $12 and then the coupon said “no eligible items”! He even called for help…..poor guy….and no one would make it work for me. But on Thanksgiving I tried to buy gloves, socks, slippers….all denied. So I decided on a pair of boots I’d seen in the adand they did not have them in store, just online, and a VERY nice manager ordered them AND overrode the USE IN STORE ONLY verbiage on my coupon. So I am getting my boots shipped to store free and it only cost me $10 after deal! Sometimes you get lucky and they will push it thru….today I spent an hour hunting for something that would work. I got a baster brush and a washcloth for less than a buck! My hubby found me some earmuffs plus another cheap washcloth for a dollar!

  26. Melanie

Urge! Missed this and last years after Black Friday! Love these coupons though. Get lots of Arizona brand kids clothes.
