   Anyone try these? I’m a little leary since the uppers are not leather like the originals rather a synthetic material called Birko-Flor.

  I would stay far away, as a long-time Birkenstock fan. I have 6 pairs of the “standard” leather ones, and one pair of this type, and I would never purchase them again. They are still a quality shoe for the price, I would say–but not like the quality of the leather ones–in my opinion anyway.
